Just wrapped up my first pass at a new to me CD from Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Skynyrd's First: The Complete Muscle Shoals Album". Have to say I was very impressed. Very good stuff musically and SQ-wise... Yes, the version of "Free Bird" you know is better than this earlier one, but this is not your typical "alternate takes" disappointment.
Stumbled across it surfing BMG, and the AMG review sold me. If you are a LS fan, give it a shot...
Scored two mint LS Albums over the weekend.
Pronounced and Second Helping.
Been listening to them all week.
Sweet Home Alabama--Yeah!!!
right now? to the neighbor kid testing out his bass machine!! aka car!
Tom Rush (AKA Little Tommy Rush), "The Very Best of... No Regrets".... Just a little memory lane stuff from a relative unknown.
"Kids these Days ain't like we used to be... I'd have more fun, but the women are so hard to please..."
Ain't that the truth.

Ice Cube-Put Your A** Into it
Kentucky Head Hunters-Don't Give Me No Lines
Yeah...it's a Friday...what can I say? :p
Eagles of Death Metal - Already Died.
It's been stuck in my head for a couple of days now. I have no idea why my head chose that song. It's there when I wake up and it's there when I go to sleep. It's a good song but there are better on the album.
Eagles of Death Metal is a Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age side project. It's some great foot stomping and head boppin Rock and Roll.
Climax Blues Band - Tightly Knit
"Going down to her house.
With a razor and a gun,
Gonna' cut her if she stands still,
Gonna' shoot her if she runs."
Started the day with my Polktoberfest winnings... Steely Dan "Gaucho" MFSL Gold... (thanks, F1)
To paraphrase Robert Duval, "I love the sound of 'Gold' in the morning. It sounds like Victory."
Moved onto to Supertramp "Breakfast in America"... nice...
Played "Genius of Love" track off Tom Tom Club's self-titled to avoid a gap... gettin' the blood pumpin' now...
Now spinnin' a wife request, "World Clique" by Dee-Lite... Cranked it up so RuSsman can hear it in Dallas... :D
More later...
Wife request... yeah right. :p
No matter how cheesy it is, I've always liked Groove is in the Heart. Wait a minute... Did I just admit that? It must be the funky beat.
Actually it was a WR....
If you like "Groove...", you'd love the CD. IMO "Groove.." is around the 2nd weakest track on the disk... Pure fluff, pure fun... Best CD cut-out-bin buy I've ever made...
PM me, if you like...
Now playing... Audience's "Lunch".... because it's that time...
The Black Keys - "Rubber Factory"
I heard this band for the first time this last Saturday and immediately picked up two of their three albums. Check them out if you get the chance.
-Josh
Well, I guess I'll have to pick it up and give it a try. It's $10 at the local big box store.
Lately, I've been absolutely hooked on The Beastie Boys for their funky instrumentals. Hello Nasty got me started and I had to pick up a few others.
Some mp3's.
I can't put my finger on it but they remind me of something familiar.

James Brown - "20 Greatest Hits"
Get up (get on up)
Get on the scene
Like a sex machine......
WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Feelin' a tad frisky this AM BMDP? James Brown is the King of "the One"...
Bit more mellow for starters here...
Neil Young "Harvest Moon".. what a great throwback effort...
Uh huh...
Transitioned right into "Freddie King (1934-1976)"
Shake your booty baby
Shake it one time for me (come on)
ALL RIGHT!
Good choice with Harvest Moon, one of my favourites. :)
It was my birthday yesterday and lit one up with a whole lot of shooters and woke up feeling surprisingly fine.
I've got Hotel California playing.
Awake now... and spinnin' "The Home Team" as they are known 'round he-yah... (For the rest of you it's ZZ TOP)...
Side note: I hit Dusty's house one time with an errant tee shot... 4th hole of the "La Quinta" course at Quail Valley CC SW of H-town in Missouri Ciity, TX.
Side note: my favourite shooter from last night was a Broken Down Golf Cart. :p :D
LOL...
Now onto The Rascals "Good Lovin'"... God bless Rhino records...
Stayin' in da Rhino groove it's time for their "Best Of The Best Ofs'..."
To kick off my delve into the Blues, I picked up The Best of B.B. King Millenium Collection for $4 at hock. :D Having my first listen.
Wired in the new additions and went through most of my Yes catalog... "The Yes Album", "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge"...
Then Flim and the BB's "Tricycle".
Now hittin' "The Best of War"... (Oh, Seeesko)
These little effer's just won't quit...
