Damn Sal, I think someone has had you. Real Sonicap's are blue.

Hehe......just funnin' with ya big guy.
Hey Sal, where are you using those Mundorf's?
I think it's a good match. I've been interested in the Mundorf Silver Oil caps for electronic equipment (CDP's, DAC's, etc.). I'm very interested to know what differences in performance they can bring to a crossover.
Good luck with your project. Doing the crossover upgrades is one of the most fun things to do with your speakers. I think you'll like the enhancement they will make to you listening pleasure.
Carl
Thanks Carl,
Will you be at Joe's Today?, I will be there and I will be staying at a super 8 tonight and then going back to Joe's to finish up the 2nd crossover. My camera has a 4GB card, I can fit 3800 pictures, I want to get step by step directions made up for future forum members who are intrested in doing the crossovers but are leary to do it.
If it wasn't for Joe helping me, I would not be doing them, I haven't done soldering in over 20 years on my own ;)
Sal
Good luck Sal! I'll be looking for the pic's of your experience.
More hot sausage and meatballs on the menu?:D
all i can say is i just replaced the 2,000's with the upgrade tweeters on my sda-srs's and im not touching my crossovers. yes, they might be a big improvment but my speakers sound great and im not messin with anything. p.s. let me know how it goes
I came to look at the forum to find a value for the TI E-0012-1 12J100Vcap in my BE2001-C crossovers in my 1.2TL's. It deadened the 3rd tweeter down. From looking at your pictures am I correct in assuming that the cap in question is a 12MF cap? Any advantage to uping the voltage rating?
Do you have the full procedure and values for "upgrading" the crossover? For now though I’d be happy to make the repair.
Thanks in advance for your help.
It's a 12 Uf cap,,you can replace the caps with sonicaps from sonicraft,or some people prefer solens,,and yes you can use caps with a higher voltage,,if you choose,,you might want to give some thought about upgrading the caps and resistors while you have them out. Hope this helps--have fun,:) and,,, welcome to Club Polk
Don't give it thought there pal, just do it!!! I'm telling you I upgraded mine June 3rd and they still keep sounding better and better. Guys that were at my house just two weeks ago and said they sounded awesome were back yesterday and today and all have affirmed that they sound better yet!
Best thing I've done to my speakers yet is to upgrade to Sonic Caps and Mills resistors!
BTW Welcome to the Club!!!
Here's some pics.
Before ===> During===> Done & Done!!!
They are Done!!!!
It was Much fun!, I had a very good time with Joe and his family again. They are very nice hosts!
Thank you Joe for helping me out and wasting your sunday on me and my crossovers.
Without you I would have not done them. They are playing now and they NEED to be broken in bad. But I can't wait till they sound like yours.
Here's some pics:
A little screeeeeechy ay???
Is that Joe's sock sucking up hot glue and cleaning the soldering iron point? I hope it was clean, I can't imagine the smell of a burning, dirty sock!
Congrats on the upgrade. I am sure you guys had fun.
just look at those 90 degree angles on those caps,,:) nice work.:)
thats it, i cant take it anymore. what do i have to do to get in on this cap rebuilding thing. who do i have to know. who do i have to pay.
I spoke with Elliot @ Sonicraft.
i will buy the parts. now if i could only find someone with some electronics no-how to assist in this matter ( hint, hint) why, i would even bring the parts to you. along with the beer and cigars.
and cash$$$$$. paying for someone to improve the sound is a worth while thing to do.
where are you located? I'm sure that someone will help out.
That's what I was thinking too. Where is ya??
bushkill,pa next to nj border
and how much time do you need for the speakers to start sounding good again??
