Har
Har,
What is your suggested purchase price for a set in black with original polk stands? In short, how much coinage are you willing to part with? I'm not desperate to sell... keep that in mind.
And, brand spank'n new, Polk CRS+ went for somewhere around $1200 with stands. Lemme know.
rskarvan,
I don't have any idea, I cannot give you any figure how much
they are worth or how much money I will spend, I think
it depends...but I really like a pair of CRS+ also there is
other club members offering his CRS too.
Har
Har,
I don't mean to be a dick by over-pricing them... but, for $750, I could let them go. I'd rather just respond to an offer - but, since you didn't make one, here is the MSRP for used CRS+'s in good condition.
FYI
Two pairs? Why so many?Quote:

Dude, Har is an SDA hording mofo, he probably only needs 1 pair, but wants a spare set just on principle....
Then again, you too could be called a ' SDA hordin' mofo', but not via this forum at least.... ;)
Cheers,
Rooster
(yes, my SDA [crs] cherry has been popped, thanks to Hoosier and the late great Nascarmann....and I thought alcohol was a tough addiction...)
Technically, my SDA collection cannot be called a "hoard" because mine are spread throughout the house. This is in stark contrast to Har, who has all of his SDA's in the same room.;)

Yeah, right...its the same thing, your keeping them in the same
house.:D
har
Har,
You don't really want CRS+'s... or else, you would offer a purchase price. Disappointing. I think of you as an SDA investor vs. an SDA collector. You are going for capital gains. Admit it.
rskarvan,
I'm not interested for buying and selling stuff for capital gains.
Since I'd purchased my SDA's I didn't think to sell it, and I will
keep my SDA's till the end of the world...
I didn't offer you something because someone in this forum selling to me his CRS+ for $350.00 and also at ebay went for $200.00.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1382785490
Anyway I will e-mail you and let you know.

I'm planning to sep-up an Overkill HT with overkill Center channel and Surround Backs using 2pairs of CRS+ combining 1.2TL's for Front and 2.3TL's for Rear Channels...:D
Har
Har,
Understood. Wow. Sorry to see your $150 bid get outbid by $50 on the CRS+. These are fabulous speakers. You'll be happy with them - once you find them. I paid $400 for mine with stands (including new tweeters). The stands are important - positioning from back wall for optimum bass response. Good luck finding another pair at that price. I think new, they went for around $850 or so not including stands (less than MSRP). The stands were around $250 for a set. All in all, this is an $1100 package - at discount - 1989 prices. Good luck again.
As for capital gains, I have no idea why you would need so many SDA's.
My system is 3.1TL up front. Monitor 10's for the rears. CS400i for the center. And PSW650 for the sub. The sub is disappointing. I question why you would want to use 2.3TL's for rear speakers. I don't think the imaging would work well back there. As for using dual CRS+ for the mono-center... well, thats a serious waste of the SDA imaging. But, I understand your motives. Good luck on your "Overkill HT". I'm certain that it will sound awesome. Kinda like my system - on steroids.
rskarvan,
You see, you paid yours for $400.00 with stands(including new tweeters) and you want to sell it to for $750.00.
Now ...who's going for capital gains...
About the one at ebay for $200.00. I wasn't really interested at
that time that's why I was outbidded by another fellow.
Anyway I'm up for CRS+ and see what is the result if they will be matches for the SRS's.
Mack asking his for $350.00 and yours for $750.00 thats
a big gap...
Har
rskarvan,
When did you change from the rt800i's to the monitor 10's? What are you doing with your 800's now? Not that I am wanting to buy as I have no money. Just curious.
Ron must be AWFUL proud of those CRS's......
BDT
Hey guys... these are classic rare Polk speakers.
Classics appreciate.
Simple economics: supply & demand.
You wouldn't think you were being taken buying a rare mint 57 Chevy for 30K even if it only cost 3K new.
Now, leave me alone. Yes, I am trying to make a buck.
At least I'll actually ship the speakers - unlike other Hoosiers.
I'm not going to part with classic CRS+ SDA sound for no reason.
Caseymou, I occasionally rearrange speakers just to try something different. I'm not going to sell my RT800i's.
Ciao'
Ron
No worries Ron, and while they may be worth 750 to you, I doubt very seriously that they would gather much interest on the open market at that price. The other thing I would say is that audio gear doesn't appreciate. I can't think of one speaker that sells used for what it did new.
I'm not against anyone making a buck and personally I could care less but 750 for something that you paid 400 for, IMO, is more along the lines of highway robbery.
BDT
Shoot i got asked why i was asking about 25.00 more for an amp then what i paid plus shipping, so i don't feel so bad after someone wants 350.00 more then they paid, LOL no hard feelings though i sold it for almost what i wanted.... off topic but anyways
Faster,
I think what you will find withing our little community is that many view the Flea Market as a medium to pass on gear to others in an extended family sort of way. Hook a brother up, do someone a solid..etc. to help folks improve thier audio situation without breaking the bank. See what I'm getting at here? I've been the beneficiary of some of these deals and in turn, when I have the opportunity I try to do the same for others.
Certainly I'm not morally opposed to making a few bucks but this ain't ebay.
BDT
Didn't realize the Polk Forum was FAMILY (incest and dysfunctional come to mind - hehehe).
Seriously though (and, off topic)... is there some way that we can get together and raise the value of these now rare classic SDA's. Harley Davidson's are called HOG for a reason - Harley Owners Group. Somehow, this group managed to increase the value of used equipment. We would all benefit from this. Just a thought.
Har would benefit the most - obviously.
Har,
I have an extra pair I'll let you have for $400 + shipping. I paid $450. They come with the stands, SDA cable and a copy of the manual.
Let me know if you are intersted and I'll send you some pics.
madmax
max,
Send me some pictures ...har_navalta@hotmail.com and I will let you know after that. :)
Har
Har,
I will take some tonite and send them to you tomorrow morning. They are the standard ones with two 6.5" woofers and one tweeter in walnut. The only marks on them are on the bottom where they have been sitting on the stands. I bought them used for my office but they are too big. Sitting on the stands they look and sound like they should. The scratches on the bottom are not through the material or anything, it's just that if you look closely you can tell they have been sitting on stands. I'm at frederick md 21774 if you want to figure out shipping. I forget the weight but I think about 60lbs. Someone else here could tell you for sure. I would package well to prevent any damage.
madmax
Max,
Send me e-mail at har_navalta@hotmail.com
I am Still looking for CRS+ probably pin/blade connection. I'm
willing to pay for $400.00 as long as in excellent condition
with Interconnect cable + stand.
Also willing to pick it up by this Holiday seasons (Christmas holidays) December 21 to 29 to prevent any damage in shipping.
The preferred Locations that I can come and pick it up will
be Illinois to Maryland.
Let me know if you are interested to part your CRS+...:)
Har
Were you able to get a pair from Madmax? I know you were looking to score a couple of pairs. Keep on the lookout, they'll turn up on Ebay or Audiogon in the near future, and for substantially less than $750 bucks.
I've been doing a few audio acquisitions myself. I decided to turn the "SDA Shrine" into a "receiver free" zone. The receivers in the master bedroom HT and the guest suite stereo have been replaced with separates.
The Yamaha HTR-5250 receiver in the MBR HT system was replaced with a Sony TAE-9000ES Preamp/Yamaha TX-1000u Tuner/Adcom GFA-555mkII Power Amp combo. The Sony STR-V333ES receiver in the guest suite was replaced with a Yamaha T-85 Tuner/Yamaha C-85 Preamp/Yamaha M-85 Power Amp Combo.
Yeah, I know...it's overkill.;)
Yeah... I guess you have to be patience. I remember
when I got my 1.2TL's it was really the right time.
This is the type of CRS+ I am looking...or at least similar;)
Har,
So, what you are REALLY SAYING is that you will pay 33% of the 1989 retail price ($1200) for a set of PRISTINE CRS+'s with original Polk stands. Caugh, hack, spew, spit. Good Luck !
Har,
A "deal" will turn up eventually. Keep looking. It's like digging for gold.
I have three pairs of 1989 vintage, pin/blade, CRS+'s. I paid $425 for a black oak pair in very good cosmetic condition (minor nicks/scratches in wood veneer finish). Condition of drivers was like new.
I paid $500 each for two mint condition pairs of CRS+'s, one in walnut and one in oak.
All three pairs came with stands.
Yeah... in Mint condition...I'm willing to pay for $400.00 + or even $500.00
Why not? as long as all comes with Interconnect cable
and stand. MINT......................................
