LSI 9 tweeter not working

Hi, I need help trouble shooting or fixing my right tweeter. I know the tweeter is out because when I switch speakers with the one that works it still has no upper sound.

My question is, could the problem be anything other then the tweeter? Cross overs or something else? To be honest I am not sure when the tweeter went out as these speakers still sounds better (with one tweeter) then the speakers the 9's replaced. Where do I order a replacement tweeter?

I am running an Outlaw 7100 amp, but when I first got the speakers I was using a receiver that may have under powered the speakers and blown the tweeter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Call Polk CS on Monday & explain. They will probably recommend a new tweeter. Mention that you a CP member for a discount.

Did the change happen when you switched the power source? Check all connections....binding posts, jumper straps, internal speaker wires, internal connections.

For a simple test, connect the speaker wire to the upper binding posts only and see if the tweeter is working.

If that yields nothing, turn the bass all the way down and at LOW listening levels connect the tweeter directly to the speaker wires and see if the tweeter is working.

Then get back to us. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

treitz3, thanks for the help. I connected both my speakers using the upper post to hear the tweeters. To my surprise I do hear sound coming from the tweeter I thought was blown but the sound is very weak compared to the other speaker's tweeter. Next I switched the speakers and again the tweeter is low in volume, ruling out the source. So it appears the tweeter is not blown but instead very low in sound. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

Well, we are still in the chase of locating the issue. When you have the time, please remove the tweeter of the speaker in question, mark it with electrical tape or a magic marker on the back [basically, safely mark the tweeter so there is no mix-up] and install the same tweeter in the other speaker. Then install the good tweeter in the speaker with issues

Does the issue follow the tweeter, or remain at the same speaker. This will answer your question. ;)

treitz3, I switched the tweeters and the problem stayed with the speaker not the tweeter. So I guess the problem is the cross over?? Troubleshooting was less painful then I thought it would be. Thanks:)

I also have a pair of LSi9 speakers, the tweeter volume is very low, I thought my tweeters where blown. Did you replace your cross over and fix your problem with low tweeter volume ?
