Cable Organizers?

Hi,

I was wondering what you guys use to keep your chargers and cables organized; usually I use zip ties or rubber bands but in an A/V setup, it seems like there are too many cables to get in the way.

I use zip ties, always. For security purposes and if done right? Swapping gear is much easier. That's just me though.

Awhile ago, thingfling.com had some cable management "jackets". They are a fabric sleeve that has velcro on each side so you can put multiple cables into one jacket and clamshell it closed with the velcro. I have them but haven't gotten around to using them yet. I'll see if I can get you a link to what I am talking about.

Zip ties I like and would use for hidden and more permanent stuff. I like panduit when running cables in visble areas, clean and easy to access cables when needed (ratter expensive but I was very fortunate to win a bid on a large quantity of 3 channels panduit). I also like velcro ties for temporary set-up (portability, versatility, clean and ease of use).

This stuff is great, it is also available for use on carpet when you do not have the choice to run your cables on the floor and want to keep neat and secure also safe for people walking around or over the cables.

Can you clamp this stuff to a wall to keep a bundle of cables together? I have three cables nailed to the wall and want to consolidate them together:

You should be able to get similar from your local car store for pretty decent pricing and for back of cabinet cabling I think it does wonder. Looking at your arrangement and color of the wood, you might prefer to order a specific color?? http://www.directron.com/tu189blk.html


WOW! I have just seen your post #9, that is a whole lot of outlets you have got on that wall! Great offering from Shawn474 also. The spiral option should also work fine for you if you do not like the velcro canvass option. The floor velcro option could also be used on the wall if you are willing to install some stick on velcro on it.

Just thinking about it, you could use a piece of the material that Shawn474 has offered to go from the outlet down the wall and then the carpet version with (female) velcro stick on (since you have wood flooring) to the sub. I'll try to find the link to the product.

I have 4 others to use; not a problem giving up 2. Hopefully they are what you are looking for,

As far as the outlets go, there are 12 in the room and 1 around the corner going to the hallway.

Got to be kidding me :D What are the GFI used for? I hope it is not your subwoofer that uses ground lift :confused:

Now, I have to make sure to save that link as I always loose it and have hard time to find when I need it. I suggest to the owner of the company we use this for an event for one of our customer in the museum of civilisation in Gatineau as we want to impress the museum with tidiness of set-ups as we are trying to be in-house provider for them (AV rental equipment and Interpretation). We would like to kick Telav/ISTS out of there, some like David against Goliath ;)). In theather also, they don't like but ratter hate gaffer tape!

Funny thing is, when I used to do the PA setups at my Church (and still do), I would always have mic cables running across the floor taped down with duct tape. Now I know exactly what to do in the future.

GOT YA! As far as the ground loop, I'd ratter try find the problem instead of using this type of ground lift as I wouldn't feel secure for my sub. When it comes to ground loops you could possibly check with a multimeter as it is normally created by a 0 volts actually showing a slight voltage and if you can cure that, your problem would be solved without putting the gear at risk. Also, in AV we use DirectInject Box to ground lift at the pre-amp out (mixer) cable which will not affect AC ground. We use some BEHRINGER DI100 (active) but likely we bought some DIGIFLEX stereo passive Direct Box which seems to be quite sturdy and effective (DSPDI).

When our church decided to buy their own building, we decided to run the snake in the ceiling through a 4" ABS pipe and down to the box. They builted a stage and I wired all microphones jacks on the floor of the stage and this was a great experience. Matter of fact, the church trusting me led me to the job I am actually doing (this happened few years after ward, would have never expected that to happen). For some reason though, the rolling ground loop in the TV appears whether or not the sub is even connected to the system. So I was thinking it must be the cable box, or something to do with the cable company.

You are using RG6 I presume? Were the connections home made? Is it possible that one of the mesh shielding isn't making good contact with one of the connector? You could check this out with a pice of cable tied to your connector using a test tone. If you short the other end of the cable and you can still hear the tone (through a "sniffer") this would mean there is an open somewhere (either at the connector or along some part of the cable) by wiggling the cable connector or along and if the tone is intermittently audible/inaudible, this would mean there is an open/bad connection somewhere.

I prefer the teenage runaways for cable organization....they're cheap, clean up pretty nice and just need a roof over their heads.

Yes, I am using RG6 Quad Shield cable. I'm not worrying too much about it as cable rates are too high and we will probably cancel cable soon, so that will solve the problem :)

It says that it interferes with digital TV service, but I've been using one for 2 years without an issue.
