I've never heard these, so that's why I need some opinions before I take a fun trip out to the Rat Shack.

My plan is to oppose the tweets and woofs - wire them out of phase, high pass the tweets at say, 300?, and have myself some ghetto dipoles for a simple old PL system.
The 170hz bottom limit is all that concerns me.
OK, so I'm not really concerned, but something to consider.

Up until 5 months ago, I was using a pair of those BA VRS (not the micro's) speaks as my side surrounds and I really liked them. I'd been using them for about 5 years with no problems whatsoever. Good luck if ya go that route.....Quote:

OK, then. Just needed some dipoles for an old PL system. Them Boston Acoustics look good. Criteria, BTW, is:
1) Cheap. I'm not paying more than about $50 for a PL surround.
2) Immersive. PL - MONO!
3) Wall mountable/small (to be placed on a shelf). I'm not paying for stands. 'Nuff said.
4) Decent looking. Can't be big or ugly. Even *I* only have so much tolerance for audio "ugliness".

Yes, a sub sat combo, actually FOUR sats and a passive sub.
For that price, I figure you could take what you want, tweek/sell the rest. Ie, take the smaller FR drivers out, mount them on the rear of the larger 2-way, wired out of phase - blamo, you got your dipole on. AND you have 2 cabs and a sub to mess with.
Dude, no offense, but for $50 and a bottom end of 170Hz, that is pretty much crap, dontcha' think? Dipoles for $50 is going to be tough.
