I have been involved in a project of transferring about 700 tapes worth of music to CDs. Tape does degrade over time and most of these tapes were recorded off of vinyl 20 or more years ago an it was...

I believe that on the Ref 10 (at least mine which has been upgraded but check your manual) that there is a jumper on the inside that you can switch that changes 5 of the digital inputs to analog....
Four of them work real well for surround MUSIC and HT. Enjoy, Phil

As one who is crazy enough to have 2 pairs of these set up in a system let me throw in my 2 cents. My system is set up for 5.1 MUSIC. If you use one set for the fronts and the other for the rears you...
What is your source material? You say you are using your computer. If you are playing MP3 files that could be the cause of your problems. MP3 is a mediocre format at best. Phil

I have a ref 21 which is a ref 10 upgraded to a ref 50 internally and also set up to run 5 ch of analog out. I might be interested in parting with this if I can come up with a ref 70 that I can...
Actually it probably sounds pretty good if he has the gear to run it with. See my system below - I think it sounds great for 2,4, and 5 channel music and it doesn't do too bad for home theater...
I have a ref 10 that has been upgraded to a ref 50. The upgrade deals with everything on the inside including (I believe) new boards but the external features are the same. One thing the upgrade does...
Why did it re-appear? Phil
The McIntosh MR-71 is considered by many to be one of the best tuners ever built. It is a tube tuner. I own one and listen to it 4-5 hours a day during the week and more on weekends. I t has a...
"No highs, no lows, must be Bose" With what I saw in your living room and what I bought that you no longer wanted why on earth would you mess around with these? Thanks again for a great deal on the...
The only type of room treatment is not sound or acoustic energy absorbing material. If that were the case the best sounding room would be one that had carpet on every surface. You wouldn't have a...
You've got a great bunch of gear already. My 2 cents is to get a good 5.1 pre-pro, a good universal player - the Lexicon RT-20 can be had for about $800 and you've almost got enough for a great 5.1...
Another way you can go (I do this) is to use a good quality vintage pre-amp. Many of these have very god pre-amps built in and can give your system more flexibility with the added inputs. There is a...
With some pre-pros or receivers like my B&K if you don't have a sub and other options are selected such as large for the front and rears all of the LFE information will be sent to all of the large...
You might check out a place called Intrinsic Sound 1907 South Broadway Denver. They always have some cool new and used gear. They build their own amps and also build a line of ice power amps. They...
I'm not sure that you are going to find a 7ch amp of high quality (better and more powerful than your pioneer) for $700. My 2 cents recommendation would be to look for a pair of 2.3tls run them in...
I am pushing each of the 4 SDAs with about 300+- wpc. I am not a fan of receivers but since yours uses ICE power they are digital amps, small and they don't have issues with heat some of my...
See system below - lots of big speakers - lots of powerful amps - a good pre-pro - a great universal player - and it sounds great. I've never had a problem in my system with having speakers be too...
I have the set with the 200 wpc amp and the tuner. This is a very good pre-amp with a very nice sounding phono pre that does BOTH MM and MC (switchable). I use these to run a pair of 2.3tis in the...
At 6 years old I'd really look into the digital variety and I bet you can get get something very adequate for a few HUNDRED bucks and still be able to be close to getting your gear. Good luck, Phil
