I kind of figured as much. The cheapest I have seen the 1.2s is about $1k. Besides the sound, the coolness factor is what alures me. I will look at the smaller ones to satisfy my curiosity.

You could probably say the Monitor series (however cheaper) falls in between sound wise. With regards to "warmer", "brighter", "forward", "recessed" descriptive words.

Just for the reasons you give for usage, get the Monitor 40s. I think for the price you can't beat them. They can be a little touchy for room placemen but, a lot of speakers are.
