It's not even that. Newer LSi have real lacquer finish, but the area under the wood is not finished. So even if you manage to remove the wood panels, you'll end up with ugly sides instead :)...
Hi all
I know that everyone recommends db840 as a bass driver upgrade for LSi15. But what about MM840 from Polk? This seems to be a better driver based just on the specs, going down to 26Hz, vs 30Hz...
BtrSound what are second speakers? I like the center :)
Or a vending machine :) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Now personally, I like the look of these.
In my eyes, visually, LSi play on balance of homage to studio monitors, warmth of wood and a touch of sophistication with a piano black finish....
It's too bad they never ended up looking that that. They ship will all-black drivers, smaller emblem and much more pronounced rubber gaskets around drivers.
I did have sub in my system, including when I auditioned LSi9. I've since got rid of the sub, because with high quality amps, my LSi15 deliver a quality of bass, that can only be improved by using a...
OK - you are crazy! :p I have LSi15s, and they are definitely better than LSi9s + sub. This is from my personal experience - I auditioned bookshelves at home, before deciding on going with the Polk...
I've heard Kef speakers before and found them a bit bright. Have they improved?
Lately, I found that I want to stay away from the metal drivers, period. To me, soft dome tweeters and polymer/paper...
Thanks for another addition to the 707 reviews on this forum.
However, the results does not bode well for 707, to say the least. I consistently hear positive praise for 703, mixed emotion on 707....
Thanks for the link. So it seems like DB series gets the vote over the MM model, because later is designed for a sealed design. Kind of a shame, cause MM model goes down to 26Hz according to Polk....
Hmm, you guys got links to any installation guides out there. I'll e-mail Polk tonight, and see if they have idea whether MM sub could be used as a replacement...
So do you guys think that single coil MM sub would be a better sub, since it goes lower than the db model? Also, how do you make the gasket, couldn't the stock one be reused? Can anyone from Polk...
I'm a little confused, are you guys saying these subs are direct drop in replacement for the factory ones in LSi15? Also, wouldn't MM840 be the best replacement sub cause it's a single coil and goes...
I think Polk should release upgraded crossover for enthusiasts. Of course they wouldn't do that for many reasons ;)
I'm either going colorblind, or the new design just put everything through blender to make everything: text, frames, lines, links - exactly the same color :) I can't put it in words, but the forum...
Mye Sound website says they no longer have cones with 1/4-20 thread...
If you have hard surface, I would recommend Black Diamond Racing Cones, you can buy a thread stud in any hardware store, and they are prethreaded with the same 1/4-20 thread. They are made from...
Jim, I wasn't questioning what you've heard or your opinion, I was actually commenting on the trend I'm seeing of people preferring 703 over 707. Thanks for your comments, by the way ;)
Honestly,...
Well I guess I just have to wait for more feedback or until I hear 707 again in person. I'm a proponent of a full range speaker vs bookshelf/sub - there is just something special about the harmonious...
So far it seems 703 is getting more love than 707? I had Lsi9 in my room prior to getting LSi15th, and there was no way they were better in my opinion, even when talking bang for a buck.
agreed.
One thing I'm not crazy about cosmetically on the new line, is the huge rubber surround around midrange and tweeter sections. Doesn't look very impressive in person. Polk should've really either go...
I haven't bought these puppies yet, but my fingers were itching to create a special place for all new LSiM owners  While we wait - here's a glamor shot of LSiM's to tie us over .
