I recently heard some floor standing Kef speakers, probably early 80s sound just as good as a lot of speakers out there today, the cabinet was real wood too!

You wont get it until you are there watching this in 3D and certain scenes take your breath away (then you will realize how wrong you were) your loss...

I saw this in 3D and must say it was amazing. I can imagine that watching the 2D version you are not experiencing the full power of this film.
I am now holding off any TV purchase and waiting...

I just ordered sylvania tubes from ebay just as a test. I would hate to take this thing in the shop...Darn thing is made in Italy!

It would suck if it is not the tubes... I do hear something turning on but the readout wont light up and there is no sound

I Have one other pair of tubes but I am not 100% sure if they work or not. swapped them out and didnt work. the fuse looks good...any advice on where to get 6922 tubes?

Thanks for the replies. I would have had him go with an integrated also but he seemed inpatient and went with a $300 Pioneer receiver. I did however convince him to wait for the Orb speakers...

I would do it by the RCA output jacks if it has them....SPDIF is a digital connection I think, like coax (1 RCA wire)

I had the Focal 826V and must say the hi frequencies were smooth like glass, I feel the Focal TNV and the Polk LS series dynamic balance tweeter are very similiar with the edge going to the Focals.

My integrated has a tube pre section with SS amps and it sounds so sweet so there are exceptions

My speakers use the same method albeit smaller woofers. KEf speakers IMO have some the cleanest treble
