... or buy a better speaker component. I could never have imagined the RTA-15 TL's being that wimpy in the tweeter.

The cross over housing shows RTA 15T, while the cabinet shows RTA 15TL.
Maybe that's where some of the confusion lays.
These where originally equiped with SL3000's and replaced with RDO198-1's.

Oh ya ... and here's what's been the "power" (haha) behind these RTA-15T's. An old Pioneer RX-710 integrated amp. I've run other speakers with no issues and this is no power house certainly so leads...

Last year I bought a pair of RTA-15T and replaced the original tweeters with RDO198-1's. The first one (left channel) died no more than two months after intalling and the second one crapped out...

Yes ... 35 hrs. These RDO198-1's are installed in RTA15 TLs, not SDA's. I've not exceeded half volume on an old Pioneer amp, so I'm thinking factory defect.

Last June (2009) I replaced my old SL3000's with fresh RDO198-1's. There's maybe about 35 hrs on them now and one is dead ... nada ... ziltch.
I've switched them left to right to check them and...

RTA 15 TL set upgraded with the RDO-198-1 tweeters.

I'm very pleased with my RTA 15TL's. I replaced the original SL3000 tweeters with the RDO 198-1's and even during the break in phase, these sound great. Good quality vinyl pressings are suberb...

Rather than risk anything, I just connected a spare cheap tweeter (at low volume) to check.

Well, the RDO198-1's are in and sounding great! If this is how they sound now, they can only get better after the break in period.

Most HS re-unions have a night for the grads only (Friday) and another for the couples (dinner / dance etc on Saturday). I went to one once that included a third day with the kids (picnic / BBQ etc)....
