The blown speaker could very well be shorting out the internal amp in the radio. Disconnect it, see if your problem goes away.

not really, I mean youre not changing the sound, you just have more adjustments to get the sound as flat as possible because every car is different. Some cars give peaks in odd places that arent...

voltage doesnt split. Think of wiring two 12V batteries in parallel, does the V go to 6V?
