Congrats! Beautiful baby!
What piqued my interest is someone on AA replace their shielded cord with an unshielded one on their DAC, and felt that it was a definite improvement. The speculation was that a stand alone dac...
This is a wonderful articulation of my sound quality preferences and how I listen to music first, the reproduction system second. My basis of comparison is always live sound - how does what you're...
Welcome to CP! Members who have responded here have a wealth of knowledge - follow their advice and you'll get those CRS+'s singing like they should.
Nice work Moose. From your description the results make it a very worthwhile project. As someone once said, everything matters.
Getting ready to build another PC myself. Gonna take out the...
I believe what you're referring to is the earlier 2.3's, which used two donut drivers, vs. 2.3TL's, which used all MW 6510's. Not sure exactly the reason for the donut drivers, hopefully someone will...
I run 12au7 RCA cleartops in my linestage, and I can say they easily outperform the stock JJ teslas, which were pretty good. However, I got some Amperex 7316's with the D-getter from Headrott that...
Congrats! You're gonna be amazed at the visual details you can now see. I used the stand that comes with it and have mine sitting on a home entertainment cabinet. One place that has lots of wall...
I've read that he's in the process of writing the next one, the one that will follow " Dance with Dragons".
That's my biggest complaint with the series - it's soooooooo long between seasons.
1952 here too, when all this stuff happened:
Queen Elizabeth II succeeds King George VI to the English throne
Rocky Marciano defeated Lee Savold for his 39th straight win
6th Olympic winter...
Haven't noticed - I'll have to go back and look.
Realized, I misstated the price above. the IEC and wall plug were $34.95 each, not for both - still a bargain.
Man those look sweet. Tube rolling looks like it could get expensive
Nice review. I'm sure getting some hours on them, especially with all new tubes, should bring serious improvement in SQ.
A buddy of mine had a pair of Sansui speakers when we were in college. Beautiful cabinets, interesting wood lattice grills, but sound wise completely uninteresting. They were totally outclassed by...
Very nice!
The only ones I have experience with are the Sennheisers I mentioned above, and, years ago, some sony VDR 7506's. The sonys were good too, and if you shop you can get them for around $80, still a...
Found this with a quick search: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?24335-Polk-Audio-Monitor-Series-Stands-Reference&highlight=polkstands
Also this - see post #17 for a nice pic of the...
Just bought some Neotech gold plated UP-OCC connectors at half price, $34.95 for both IEC and wall plug: http://www.partsconnexion.com/ac_neotech.html
Never used Neotech before, but good...
Seriously bad ass looking amp - the heat sinks look like all business. 140 lbs requires a foot in the middle of the bottom panel!
I'd love to hear one of those.
I use them on 12au7's/7316's in my linestage. When I first installed them I thought the effect was a slight cleaning of the image. They've stayed in ever since. Nothing jaw dropping, but noticeable....
It'd be a lot quicker and easier to remove the vinyl veneer using a heat gun. If you search the forum there are some "how to" threads.
I use Sennheiser HD280 Pro cans. Decent sound and good isolation. But they're $99. Good luck on your search and let us know what you find.
Nice Marantz 1060. That was my second amp, the first being a 1030. I'm sure it drives the Monitor 10's nicely.
+1 - I put my C160 back into my system for about a week while sorting out some issues with my tube linestage. The NAD is a very good SS pre with loads of flexibility. Very clean sound too.
Sorry for your loss. Very tough to lose someone you're close to at any time, but especially suddenly. It takes a while to fully process a death, so go easy on yourself. Emotions can well up at any...
