I would say it is still on the slower side when playing CDs, but it is quicker than blu-ray loading. I came from a Sony BDP-S300, so ANYTHING for me is an improvement in time.

I have the Denon 1909...I use the analog outs on my CDP to hook up to the Denon in order to use the CDP's DACs, and run the Denon in Pure Direct Mode.
