Based on my experience owning a 970 and 971 and viewing a 983, my response to your questions:
Quality -- Excellent
Playability -- Good
Craftmanship -- Excellent
Warranty -- Good...
Agree re good DVD-A and SACD sound and re bugs you noted.
Another bug, and OPPO's service folks said the engineers would try to fix this in the next update, is that the HDCD indicator is on the...
Well, OK, I guess that is what credit cards are for.
Thanks all. Great info. Just received "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Brothers in Arms." Spectacular!
All the recommendations will be useful...
Already got the Dire Straits and Pink Floyd on order from Amazon. Total of $28 and free shipping. Not bad.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll order the Tapestry and Nora Jones multi-channel.
I'll check them out. I did like the soundtrack of the movie ". . . Brother Where. . ." a lot.
Just got into the high resolution audio formats and have been able to find most of the usually recommended disks: "Rumors," "Hotel California," S. Dan's "Gaucho," lots of Diana Krall, etc.
Tried both component and DVI/HDMI. You are correct, the best picture, by far, was through DVI/HDMI, but still not good.
Goofy too is that the best picture is through 480i, not 480p nor 1080i. ...
First, the good:
1. Super customer service.
2. The DACs are not as good as in my CA 640C CDP nor my NAD T773, but OK. Sounds spectacular playing HDCD through analog with the player's video...
Already ordered a refurbed OPPO 971, which is supposed to mesh well with my monitor.
At that price though, will get one for my girlfriend and one for use as a DVD-A player.
This give Toxis a...
Think about buying the OPPO 771 DVD Player and it comes with a 5' DVI (male to male). I need 7' minimum, so I'd be buying another cable anyway.
Sounds like you have some time; this is good. SVS occasionally has B-stock and will for sure on the next version of the 10. Keep checking back and jump on it when you see what you want; the 10...
+1 re the PB-10. Let us know if you come up with any good tricks on handling the continuous phase adjustment.
+1 Re SVS B-stock. I had to keep checking the SVS site for a couple of weeks, but well worth it. The B-stock unit I got was perfect and I saved considerable $$$$$$$.
I had not planned on shipping it, but could by sending it out in the same box that I get my SVS in if your brother wants to pay for shipping.
Let me know,
can be made by taking rolled insulation in plastic covers, painting the rolls black and putting them in unabtrusive places in the corners.
I have some corners that are hidden by furniture, and...
Had some interest, but nobody has dibs on it yet. Where does your brother live? You can PM me if you wish.
Final bump. Then will sell elsewhere.
Will wait a while, then try to sell the Tiny Mighty on the Home Theatre Forum. As a last resort, I'll sell it at work. Ugh!
Did have one offer; honesty hurts. I had to tell her that she would...
For Sale: Like new 10 in. 100 watt black powered subwoofer. I have the user's manual, but not the original packaging. Lightly used.

Here is the link to a...
Thanks for the tip. Always up for a discount.
First, I seem to remember you posting re HDCD. Thanks, I had the same questions.
Re the difference in sound: To me...
Excellent comments & suggestions.
I did use the RCA cables supplied with the Cambridge for the CDP analog out. The manual said not to use cheap cables and that that is why they didn't supply...
I had been playing cds in a cheapo DVD player. I had read that buying a decent quality cdp would not make much difference in sound quality if I used the digital output (and the receiver's DACS)...
Based on feedback from folks here I'd narrowed my choices to bottom end NAD, Rotel, or the 640C. Audio Advisors are closing out the 640C V1 for $344, so that sealed the deal. Running it through 9s...
Look forward to the next test. I'd guess many of us are in the same situation and I'm curious if you hear the same improvement or if the small size of the room will be the limiting factor.
