i didnt see a direct answer for this question. i plan on using them for home theatre in a multi speaker (5.1 or 7.1) configuration.

i have a pioneer elite sc-05.

this is a FANTASTIC blu ray player.. i have used one for more than a year now.. it does take a minute or two from power on to open the drive door.. it is actually quicker, when you have the machine...

i have a sc-05 with mythos two and three up front
polk audio rt35i for the sides and fx500i on the back wall (which is directly behind the couch )
and two prosub 1000's placed diagonally from each...

maybe i dont understand fully what you mean by 9.1 but the sc-05 does do that plIIz.. i get it all the time on 5.1 true hd

i disagree. i play standard def dvd's on both my ps3 AND my pioneer bdp-51 and they both look fantastic especially if it is a newer dvd ( last 5 years or so ) . the ps3 looks marginally better than...

let us know what you get... you dont need an hdmi for 720p but while you are buying you might as well get it incase you upgrade your tv.. but dont pay a big price for it...
