I used a 5.6uf.
I put RDO-198s in my 1Bs about six months back. At first they were pretty hot on the high end but they have settled in nice. To me the 2 ohm resistor seems real close, I may experiment with it...
From what I remember of A25s, your impressions are right on except for the high end. I always thought they were slightly rolled off on top, but not too bad, very similar to Advents, KLH, etc from the...
Thanks, I may go have a look at them.
Does anyone know what model these are? If the fronts are halfway decent I might use them in my garage system.

Price is too high unless it has a really nice tonearm on it. The Rebel was an entry level turntable that sold for about $250.00 brand new.
I've only heard 1As one time, they didn't impress me. They use the tweeters in the SDA circuit and it just doesn't sound right. I'd pass on them.
Gorgeous speakers for sure, I just wish my wife would get on board so I could get a pair of SRS. She barely puts up with my 1Bs, keeps trying to push them out into the garage.
If YOU think they sound better than the Klipsch that's all that matters, someone else may have a different opinion. I find it's a good idea to listen to new speakers for a couple of weeks or so...
That's pretty dang cool.
Way over priced, I paid $40 for my 1As that are in better shape.
I'd have to seriously consider it, but I've always liked the ESS Translinears. I would have to do some serious A/Bing to make that decision though.
My wife would vote yes, I would vote no, especially for some Monitor 7s.
You can argue about it all you want, but I have about 15 hours on my 1Bs w/RDO198s, and these are my observations so far. The biggest thing I hear is much more detail in the high end versus the...
I used the Clarity Cap PX.
Well I finally took the plunge, ordered RDO198s and a couple of 5.6uf Clarity Caps right before Christmas. The weather was crappy today, so I decided to go ahead and install them. The install went...
Looks good, I totally did away with the bases on mine and put the spikes directly into the bottom of the speaker.
Looking good, I love mine
IIRC the stacked tweeters act as a line source with the bottom one handling the lower high end and the top one handling the upper high end.
Great to see you rescuing these Proffitt, you'll get plenty of good karma for your efforts, and also wind up with a nice set of speakers.
+1 on the vintage DCMs, I have a set of TF350s and a set of TW1s. Both really great speakers. I also am a big fan of anything by Henry Kloss, KLH, Advent, AR etc.
The Tannoys are great speakers and not easy to find. I would go with the Tannoys, if you don't like them you shouldn't have any problem getting your money out of them.
Go to SDA Wiring Diagrams sticky, there's a SDA troubleshooting guide in there. That will be the best place to start.
So I finally got a chance to to get busy with the VOM. Went all the way through both crossovers, everything checked out, now I'm really stumped. I had printed the SDA troubleshooting guide so I...
I though about it being in the other cabinet, I need to print the schematic and get busy with my VOM.
