Tempting.. and I happen to have a full bag of polyfill in the attic. I'll think on it for sure.
Using RTA, I find that what sounds "bright" about my A9's is actually occurring between 1kHz - 2kHz. Adding extra polyfill could affect response and/or ringing at those frequencies. It could also...
I tried bi-amping my A9's (passively) just to see for myself if there was a difference. I also tried by-wiring them with dual 12 AWG wire. I personally noticed absolutely no audible difference at...
I have heard both and tho I won't say which was better sounding to me (subjective opinion), I will tell you that I had to sit very still while listening to the Motions as their sound changed...
I noticed a greater improvement in sound quality by treating 1st reflection points (esp. the front wall) than I did from increasing wattage. Both helped, but acoustic treatment made the bigger...
Nice. There are a couple left at best buy on clearance for $499.99 new. In store, not .com
The David Crowder Band - Church Music
I fashioned a 12V trigger out of a 12V DC converting wall plug by cutting the plug off the end and replacing it with a 3.5mm headphone plug. I plugged the converter into the switched outlet on the...
I called Polk, told them I was a forum member, and they sent me 2 sets of four for $5 per set (that's 8 individual OEM threaded spikes for $10).
Out of curiosity I hooked up a Behringer EPQ-2000 (specs say 500 x 2 RMS @ 8 ohms) to my Rti-A9's. I was rather impressed with the results. The mids and highs sounded identical to my receiver, but...
That's a great deal!
Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard - The Dark Knight original score (in Dolby Pro Logic IIx Music)
Thank you to all for your replies. I hope this thread proves helpful to someone out there.
I could not be more pleased with the sound. Music is deep and detailed, and movies are a whole new...
I recently purchased a pair of Polk Rti-a9's. These beauties are fairly large and have a curved teardrop shape, as they taper from front-to-back. I like the look, and the bass performance is solid,...

Givers - In Light (in Dolby PLIIx Music)
Radiohead - In Rainbows (in Dolby PLIIx)
My Rti-a9's have a few similar dark marks on the wood.. adds character.
I second this advice. Phantom center with the A9's and monitors as surrounds would be fine.
With tint of orange rust (depending on how the light hits). These speakers are gorgeous, but they don't match any furniture I've seen. Go with black.
@jbooker,
How do you like the sound of your Carver on your A7's?
OK great. Thanks for the help.
I am planning a DIY subwoofer build using 2 SVS db12's each in it's own ported cabinet. I am building it to match my RTI A9's cosmetically. Each cabinet will be tall and deep with the teardrop...
2nd that! My A9's keep getting better.
