Good stuff, let the tube rolling begin!
Dan, I just received a phono pre that will accept the 12AT7's. I will try a quad of these if you would please.
Dan, Am I missing something? What's the price?
Original Owner of this very nice phono stage preamp. The Stealth has had the Magnum upgrades and also sports the AD797 op-amps. The Stealth is in very good cosmetic condition with a small mark on the...
not too far away
I just finished a pair of 2.3TL's that now share time with my 3.1TL's and some 1C's. So, yes it would be greedy:biggrin:
Sounds like a cool place, would love to visit sometime. I still have an original mono pressing of the Beatles 65 that I purchased new when I was twelve years old. I lost all of my collection (approx....
Good job, always good to see a pair of neglected SDA's being rescued! You will be rewarded for your efforts!
I've owned both models, preferred the SRS 2's simply for the Bass output, and they just have an overall "bigger" sound. The midrange on the 1C's can be a little congested (no offense to 1C owners),...
That's good to "hear" upgrade the caps and resistors in due time and that will only add to the excitement, n'joy!
You should be very proud of your work, I think they turned out exceptional !!! Enjoy
Thanks Paul, I'm not ready to give them up yet! But, if I ever do, you'll be the first to know!
I have to ask, if you think there are fake MIT's on ebay, from a Chinese seller, and he has bad marks on his feedback, then why would you buy them?
Ek, Welcome, pay heed to what these gentleman speak of, they know what's up with these old classic SDA's. Enjoy your new 1C's, they are very good speaker with a lot of potential.
I've got about 85 hours logged on so far, and they are getting better by the hour. The RDO's are getting sweeter also. It's fun to hear the differences in the initial burn in.
Thanks again everyone, I wish that all of you could come over and sit down, enjoy a cold brew or two, and have a listen! I'm spinning some Eagles at the moment and they are sounding very good, damn...
Mike, I picked up the 5/4" Oak when I was shopping for material for the rack. I made the caps at the same time I glued the rack together.
I think the caps that were for sale here some time ago was...
he he, Replacing the original tweeters is a good place to start, when ordering from Polk, make sure to tell them that you are a Club Polk member, will save more than just a few dollars.
Thanks for all the positive comments, I enjoyed working on them and looking forward to hearing what they have have to offer!
Good on ya Dave, your son is a very lucky young man to be the recipient of such a fine pair of speakers. I'm sure that when you're finished with them, they will be awesome, inside and out.
Congrats on your new SDA's, the 2.3TL's are in the sweet spot of the SDA lineup. There are many mods that can bring these beauties back to better than new performance, n'joy!
I removed all the side, cloth covered panels from the cabinets. Made trim pieces (3" wide x the thickness of the cloth covered panels. Ran a double bead board detail on them, finished and glued the...
Let me think, uh...NO
Thanks guys, they are an extremely clean pair, not a smudge or scar on the front bezels and only a couple of small, very small marks on the back of the cabinets. All the drivers and PR's look as new,...
