Does not matter how old the speakers are as long as they are functioning properly. It's the speakers impedance or ohms you have to watch.
Cool. Took a chance and bought one with blown right channel. It's in the shop now and can't wait for it to be repaired.

I would pick the Adcom 555 and replace the amps little capacitors with Elna Silmics to make them sound smoother and warmer. Friends and I have done these to our 555's.

Try Sansui au717 or au919. These amps are dynamic and not as bright as the Emotivas. You can find them on ebay or cl.

What do you think of the CAS2? How does it sound?
Adcom 555ii, Forte model 3 and Nakamichi pa5 are good amps and all fit the $500 range.
Wonder if it sounds like any of the Krell amps.
