Are you using your receiver or an external amp to power the LSi9's?

The LSI line need beef dedicated amps, receivers just don't cut it.

You need a good USB DAC to get the best sound quality from your computer. I am using a Benchmark DAC1.

Not to stir the pot, my pick, the old Radioshack premium line of interconnects and the current Monoprice premium line of interconnects.

I currently have both the Energy Veritas 2.2i and the Polk LSi9's. To my ears, the Veritas have more detail, clarity, separation, a step above the LSi9's. I haven't heard the Energy RC's in person....

The Parasound A21 originally retailed for $1999, but they've since increased the retail price to $2300.

Onkyo does make some nice stuff. I have an Onkyo CD player (matching CD player to that Onkyo integrated amp) in my main rig, I am impressed with the build quality. If the A-9755 were available...

The Lsi9's need some serious power. A used Adcom or a NAD amp would be a great choice.

Parasound Halo A21, tough to beat for just over $2K.

I think I should have made myself clearer in my earlier comment, it's not noise, but rather some kind of high harmonic distortion someone commented on about this particular DAC.
