I only have a pair of Monitor 5B's so I can't say anything about comparisons, but I am very pleased with the 5B's. I replaced the SL2000's for RDO-194's and upgraded the X-Overs and I'm very please...
Depending on how much you want to spend, you could check out http://www.madisound.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=404_5_351 . They have replacement resistors also. There are a few topics on here on...
The only thing with that, now you would have to fit 3 larger then stock caps on the board where there was only 2 originally. I just used an extra long wire tie to hold everything together. I...
Here are some more pic's of the X-over, hope this helps. It does all fit back into the hole, it's tight but it does go back in. I have about 100 hours since the upgrade to the X-Overs and the...
Here is a pic of the finished X-over. It just sqeezes back in the hole.
I used windex on my 5B's and they look like new now. Just took a lint free cloth and sprayed windex on it and gently rubbed the dust off that way, works and it's cheep.
My favourite is still good old Molson Pilsner beer the one with the bunny rabbits on the label.
Welcome
Welcome and I'll second the RDO-194 upgrades.
I followed heiney9's X-over upgrades and replased the SL2000's with RDO-194's and these M5B's are better sounding then when they were new IMO.
I picked up a pair of tweeters from midwestspeaker.com that look like the original Peerless tweeters and they sound like the originals that I had before. This might be worth looking into, I think...
I only have about an hour on them, not quite as bright but if they are anything like the RDO-194's that I got for my 5B's they should brighten up. Like I said before, you really have to listen hard...
These A+ are sealed.
I wonder if that 1 lb./cubic foot would work in my Reynolds Advance A+. They still have the original fiberglass insulation in them now. Just getting these backup and running. Still have to upgrade...
I used the 33uF SA series. But then I have the RDO-194's. This is still within 5%.
I just got my pair of tweeters today. They look very good, I tried one in my Reynolds Advance A+ speakers today, these speakers have 2 in each, tried the one new one with the old original and I can't...

I recently upgraded the X-overs in my 5B's. I used the Clarity SA series of caps and the Mundorf resistors and I am very pleased with the results. I got all my parts from Madisound. Once...
Do you have the whole collection of vintage Polks?
I still haven't got them yet. There was a mixup with my order, I ordered them on Aug.22 they were charged to my visa but the company that runs the web site never let Mid west speaker know about the...
I have a pair of Reynolds Advance A+ speakers that have the Peerless tweeters and they can only go in the right way. There are two notches in the hole cut out for the speaker leads that connect to...
The hardest part about refoaming is getting everything nice and clean. If you follow the directions that come with kits and take your time it is actually fairly easy. I just did 4 MW's and 4 PR's...
There was a mix up when I ordered these on August 22, they were never shipped but yet I was charged for them on my credit card. I now have this mess sorted out and tweeters should be here in the...
These tweeters are sold at www.midwestspeaker.com I ordered a pair and I should have them in the next week or so and I'll let you guys know what they are like.
