Very cool! I'm in!
I posted this on June 30. Crazy.
Thanks Tony! It was a pleasure meeting you. I really hope you enjoy the 1Cs. They couldn't have found a better home. I still can't believe you are self taught "electrical engineer/web page...
I'll be taking them up to visit Gimpod tomorrow afternoon. I'll keep you all posted.
I've heard the term monkey coffin discussed in the past.
I am constantly amazed by my vintage monitor 5s. You can easily get them for under $100. I just love that vintage Polk sound.
Wow, XTC skylarking really brings me back. Fantastic album from the 80s! Thanks for the review. I've been interested in the preamps.
Are you sure? They are on the way to Vancouver . Thanks for the GLWTS!
Thanks Zingo! Unfortunately, limited space is one of the main reasons I'm selling the 1Cs (i.e., big speakers and small house don't mix well). No more big speakers for a while.
No love for the 1Cs?
I have a very nice pair of restored pin blade SD1Cs for sale in Seattle (local pickup only). These are cosmetically restored, not upgraded (no new capacitors, resistors, etc). They do have new...
Those crossovers are very easy to work on and upgrade if desired. Schematic is a sticky in the vintage forum. Pull the crossover and take a look. Feel free to post some photos.
PM sent.
I forgot to mention that I needed to add a couple of 1" stand-offs to the pcb/binding post cup so that the backside of the binding posts could clear that large cap. No big deal.
Thanks! While I didn't have a lot of time with them (stock) before the upgrade, I'd say it was a definite improvement (improvement in overall clarity). I'm guessing it will only get better with...
Hmmm, did the spikes tighten up the bass a bit? I find that they are little bass heavy for me as is.
Almost everyone on this site has a long list of gear. Its all part of the fun. The crossover upgrade is very, very easy on the LS70s. Just one cap and one resistor. I used Sonicap and mills. ...
I think it would be best if we discussed this via PMs. I think you need a minimum of 10 posts to send PMs. Lots of good things in this forum to comment on .
Those are very nice! I was originally thinking of spending no more than about $125. I spent $200 for my LS70s and $50 for my CS350. Would you consider $150 shipped? Paypal.
Thanks!

[QUOTE=stargazer_97;1810708]I have a pair in excellent condition. If anyone is interested please let me know![/QUOTE
I'm still looking. I know you can't PM me until you message count is up a...
Hi and welcome to Club Polk! They are RTA12s from the 80s. They are very well regarded and would be a great intro into the vintage Polk sound. Go for it!
I have no idea who is doing this but its pretty funny.

Yeah, I think its only 6v per lamp (12v total). I'm begining to wonder if the bulb change and the smoke were unrelated. Previous to changing the bulbs, I only fired the amp up a couple of times and...
Yeah, that is what I figured. Not a big deal. Thanks for the heads up!
