I really wanted to just add the DIY link and should have quoted pyrocyborg.
And you can easily and inexpensively "pretty it up" with some TechFlex and Heat Shrink http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=94203
One of the easiest installs ever.
When I connected my USB DAC (HRT Music Streamer II) Windows loaded the necessary driver and I was good to go.

186000 Miles Per Second: Not Just a Good Idea, it's the Law
Depends upon the quality of your sound files. Definitely if your rips are Lossless. But with of a highly compressed lossy MP3, the quality of the sound has already been compromised - probably more so...
I use coins under the spikes on my RTi8's, they work well and cost pennies ;-)
Or, like I have done, you can bi-wire using something reasonably priced like Canare 4s11 speaker cable ($1.35/ foot at Bluejeans) . I didn't hear any difference but like the cables and the look...
I use eSnipe.com, put my max bid in and walk away as it places the bid in the last few seconds for a 1% fee.
I need to use this to keep my ego out of the bidding which caused me to bid more than I...
In July 2008 I paid $399 for a pair of new, unopened box, black RTi8's at Fry's in Indianapolis. I think this was about the time Polk introduced the RTiA series
You would get an improvement over almost all sound cards built into the motherboard.
I always thought Onkyo paired well with Polk. I have for my 5.1 system an Onkyo SR603 with Polk RM6800 & for 2-channel an Onkyo A-9555 integrated to help with my "bright" RTi8
I have yet to see a motherboard (Dell, HP, ASUS, etc.) with a quality sound card built in. The manufactures are driving to a price point and for users who use cheap PC speakers.
Call Logitech support - they have helped me setting up my Squeezebox Duet
I love my RTi8's paired with an Onkyo A-9555 integrated amp fed from my PC based collection of WMA Lossless rips, via a USB DAC. This rig sounds fantastic to me.

WMA Lossless rips to my PC let me:
My PC -> USB DAC > ONKYO A9555 -> Polk RTI8
My PC -> Network Router -> Wife's PC in the upstairs bedroom
My PC -> Network Router -> Roku SoundBridge -> Onkyo...
Description says Pair with "SPADE PLUGS", picture shows one cable with PINS
That assumes that the new speaker cables are of higher quality than the jumpers (which gets us into the debate of being able to hear differences in speaker cables - and a discussion I do not want to...
So Craigslist postings from the Baltimore - Washington DC area around January 2009, May 2010, and now November 2010 makes one wonder if they did not sell or if they keep turning over because they do...
As a cheap solution, I use a Roku Soundbridge 1001 (TOSLINK digital out into my DAC), but Roku no longer makes (or supports?) it.
If using a wireless connection, I would look at where the various...
Electricity travels quickly, so, unless you can differentiate sub-nano seconds, do not worry
186,000 miles per second, it is just not a good idea, it is the LAW
That is "Bi-amping" which many will say is a will improve the sound, as opposed to "Bi-wiring" which uses one amp and did nothing for me. There are many threads, so try Search
I have RTi8's bi-wired using Canare Star Quad 4s11 (with four conductors together in one outer jacket and so simple to use in a bi-wired application and inexpensive at $1.35/foot) with my Onkyo...
Does this mean that when I am looking at Polk speakers, LSi & RTi are Polks "Upper End" series and so VM, TSi and R/T/M are the "Lower End"?
