New Polk HT now done

With the help of forum member Grimster (my pal) I was able to design a dedicated theater room that allows one to enjoy the best audio/visual experience in a Home Theater. Talking via IM really gave us a chance to talk "shop", exchange ideas and input on the build. Months later construction began, and now completed.

The room itself is 14x22 and is fully sealed. In order to do this I had all 4 walls poured with solid concrete during the building stage of the home. From there I had each wall insolated, etc. Even under the carpet I had sound padding installed to prevent echos, etc. The room itself is on 6 dedicated 20amp breakers. Power to the PJ is on its own dedicated 20 amp breaker as well. I also installed 2 outlets in the floor behind the second row of seating and also in the riser behind the 1st row. All CAN and rope lighting are controlled by IR using the Lutron Spacer System.

For networking there is a dedicated 100meg fiber line running to the house, from there each room has outlets for LAN. I run a D-link switch in the H/T room so the gear can access the internet for downloads, upgrades, gaming, etc.

I chose Polk Speakers based on reputation and value. The end result is simply amazing SQ/PQ in the room.

New System consists of

Always something going on in theater room, Call of Duty 4 or movies on Blu or the HD DVD. Purchased from Wal-Mart.

View of Screen Wall. Screen is a 126 inch 16:9 screen from Carada. I chose the Criterion model with the Brilliant White material for the extra pop in the PQ. Very nice nice PQ with the JVC/Carada paired together.

The screen in all its glory. Wall painted a nice flat black to increase ANSI and reduce reflection off the wall back to screen. My ceiling is also done in black to help increase black level and reduce light reflection. The JVC is very bright and has no problem lighting up the larger screen. 126in screen and its a gorgeous image to add. Also shown the Rti12s, CSi5 center and if you look close you can see the dual SVS PB12/plus2 subs. These subs do wonders in my sealed room, the SMS-1 ensures I have great response

Front view, 126" screen is really big.

The JVC RS10 in all is shining glory. A highly recommended PJ, nicely done in Piano Black and Gold.

RS10 now installed in my setup, this pj does very well with CRT like blacks.

Rear of room, Rti4s and the JVC RS10. Audio/Video perfection.

Did some rearranging in the rear of the room, nice and neat, no clutter

JVCRS10 and the RTi4.

The CSi5 on duty. A large speaker that offers excellent SC. Powering the speaker off my Sunfire amp. Mainly took it to show off the quality used in the Lovan M2 Center Stand. Very flexible and allows the center to aimed directly towards the listening position. Love the glass finish also.

Side view of my Audio/Video racks, with both being located in the rear of the theater room. In order to control the gear, I installed a Speaker Craft IR kit so you can just point the universal remote at the front of the room. No turning around or getting out of your seat to make adjustments in this setup.

One of my gear racks, this is the audio side. Shown are Pioneer Elite SC-07, Sunfire TGA5200, D-Sonic Magnum 1000S and the Velodyne SMS-1.

Built in step lighting in the risers for safety of course. I used rope lighting to achieve this effect as some may already know. All the lighting in my HT are controlled by the IR using the Lutron Spacer System.

Theater room seats 5, very comfortable chairs, fully recline option also

The other media rack, this one used for my SD DVD material. Located on the rear left side of the theater room. Also shown the RTi4s mounted on the the B-tech 77 wall mounts and the FXi3s.

Pic of the HD media rack. Lots of BD and HD DVDs to watch on the huge screen. Built in media rack located on the rear right side of the theater.

My new Paragon Contempo popper. I bought this since I wanted the Theater experience. The result is buttery popcorn that comes out perfect every time. Love the taste of popcorn using this popper. Very nice build quality to add.
