Default GFP-750 HT BYPASS with my DODD ELP

Ok I have been wanting to try and use my DODD ELP with my Adcom GFP-750 Through the HT bypass, and before I screw something up I would like a little feedback.

The Dodd output would go in to the 750 HT input, and then from the 750 HT output to the Dodd input??? am I seeing this correct?

And all my sources stay hooked up to the 750 correct? (CDP/SACD PHONO PRE ect?)

It makes sense to hook it up this way but I just want to be sure..

    Thanks,,

    Larry.

What are you trying to hook up?

    This doesn't sound ok.

That would be a continuous loop if I am correct.

This is why I am asking. I want to connect my dodd elp up to my HT bypass and be able to switch between the 2 pre's. this way I can have the tube pre when I want or the SS pre when I want.. if it can't be done it cant be done, but I thought it could just be looped... I have never messed with the HT bypass so I just want to be clear on hooking it up. The guy at Adcom today was worthless as hell, I am not sure how this guy has a job there..

Dodd output to the 750's HT input, and then normal from there (750's output to amp). The unity gain of the 750 will let the Dodd control the volume when you select the HT bypass.

And you need the sources you want to play through the Dodd to be at the Dodd's input

    Thanks Ricardo,

That makes sense. I just thought you could loop it, and leave your sources hooked up to the 750.

I will just do it this way, and hook up my SACD player to the Dodd..

Larry, we discussed this already. Do you still have my PM? It's not complicated at all......it's like hooking up a tape deck. If you need help PM me again.

Ricardo even made it more complicated. All your sources still hook into the 750 the Dodd gets hooked to the processor loop. Flip the HT bypass switch and the Dodd recieves the signal and becomes the pre-amp and the 750 controls all your sources.

    It's super simple.

Output of the Dodd goes to the Processor IN
The Input of the Dodd goes to the Processor OUT. That's all the connections you make.

It's that simple............you source components stay hooked to the 750 and it becomes a switcher then when you flip the processor switch on the 750 the Dodd is now in the circuit and controls the volume.

Set the levels of both and sit back and use the remote to swich the Dodd in and out to compare the 2 units.

Not quite..............although this might work as well but it's too complicated because your way means you have to unhook source components from the 750 and hook them to the Dodd. It's not necessary to go to all that trouble.

The Dodd INPUT get hooked to processor OUTPUT and the Dodd OUTPUT get hooked to the processor INPUT. That's it. Flip the HT bypass switch the Dodd now controls the volume and the 750 still controls all the source switching.

P.s. My Dared is hooked up this way permanently. This way I can listen to tubes, active solid state or passive solid state. I don't always want to go thru the hassle of tubes because of limited listening time or for movies or for the streaming radio stations, etc.

In my defense I will say that the OP did not mention the GFP-750 has a "processor in-out" option. He just mentioned HT bypass. Normal HT Bypasses would require connections as per my post.

Edit: Ok; I see now he did mention HT input and HT output. Didn't catch that. Usually preamps with HT bypass only have an extra input, using the same main output, and it "bypasses" the preamp.

No need to defend Ricardo, your way would work if there was not a full HT bypass built in. Larry is just over thinking the situation. It's really simple and works like having two seperate pre-amps.
