LFE connection

If you're using the crossover in your AVR for the LFE channel, can you connect the LFE line out straight into a simple integrated amp??

I have a blown sub plate amp. I was going to buy a new plate amp, then started looking at a separate crossover and amp. Then I started thinking about the fact that if you're using the crossover in your AVR, you set the plate amp crossover as high as it will go. So that caused me to wonder whether I can just plug the LFE line out directly into an amp? Does your basic decent plate amp have better performance for LFE effects than a decent separate amp?

yes i have powered a broken sub with an external amp and you can just plug the RCA out for the sub into it, but to be honest it would probably waste more money then buying a specific sub amp. go to parts-express.com and you can get one for a mere 100 dollars (depending on the wattage you want) sub amps are also usually high current amplifiers with alot of headroom.
