    Default Pleasent dilema

Hi all. New to the forum so please excuse me if I mess up on some of the protocal or step on any toes. As my title indicates, I have a pleasent dilema. I'm running a Yamaha RX-V1800 (firmware updated) in a 5.1 setup. TSi400s for the fronts, a CS10 at center, two TSi100's at the rear and a Velodyne DLS3750 for my sub. I just picked up a like new pair of TSi200s at a flea market for a song and want to incorporate them into a 7.1 setup on my Yamaha. Any input from any of you as to whether I should keep the 100s as the rears and use the 200s on the side, or move the 200s to the rear and use the 100s on the side. I would think the timbre on all the speakers should be somewhat matched. Any suggestions?? Thanks to all.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Nice system you got going there - I run the V1800 as well - nice unit.

I'm sure someone will chime in on some recommendations.

The only major road bump is getting both parties to admit it. The best thing is to be honest with her & tell her how you feel. There is no telling how it will go but at least you can say you tried.

    WELCOME TO CLUB POLK!!

Most people who run similar systems will say move the 100s to the back and put the 200s in as your surrounds...there is very little info carried in the back surrounds--even less than the surrounds so you want your best speakers closer to you. But you can certainly experiment and see what you think.

I would try both and see what you like better.

My first inclination would be to use the 200's as your side surrounds, as the side surrounds tend to be more active than the rear surrounds in a full 7.1 soundtrack, and you would want the more active channels to benefit from the extra set of mid-bass drivers.
