    Default Please advise

I ordered a moshi, keyboard cover and palm guard for my MacBook through amazon. According to Fedex tracking, it states it was delivered today and left at my front door, but no package there. I was home all day and never saw any Fedex delivery van stop by the house. Anybody familiar with this kind of scenario? I just emailed amazon and asked them to advise. This is a first for me and I generally have no problems w/Fedex.

    Thanks,

    Mike

It'll probably show up tomorrow when the FedEx Home guy decides to actually deliver it.

Yeah, I think the Fedex Home delivery people are actually contracted delivery drivers rather than employed directly through Fedex (if I was told correctly, of course). I had my BAT preamp delivered via fedex home and didn't recieve it until about 8:30 P.M.

This happened to me with a microwave last July. Only it was UPS. Like you, I was home all day. I ended up calling Amazon. My situation was slightly different from yours in that I lived in an apartment complex and that I was going to be moving 5 days later (into a different complex without a microwave, hence our purchase).

Basically, given my circumstances, the CR rep at Amazon offered to ship another unit 2-day express at no charge. Turns out about 2 hours after I got off the phone with her, the microwave appeared on my doorstep. However, no one knocked (the UPS and FedEx guys always do even if no signature is required). So I think they may have delivered it to an honest neighbor in our university housing complex, who then dropped it off inconspicuously (the address label was indeed correct). I then called Amazon immediately to try to stop the second shipment. But it was too late. Anyway, she e-mailed me a return label.

(In hindsight it worked out great for me, because the first unit I received was in fact defective...but the second one that was sent 2-day express worked perfectly. So we sent the other unit back).

Back to your situation Mike, I would give it one more day. It might have been delivered to a neighbor and might show up on your doorstop. Or it might be bottlenecked intheir computer system and might show up tomorrow. If it hasn't arrived by tomorrow evening (is tomorrow Saturday for Hawaii?...I am always confused about where you guys are in relation to Asia and the U.S. timewise) or Monday evening if Fed ex doesn't deliver on Saturdays, I would just call Amazon (have them call you) and I'm sure they will resolve it for you. Since they sent it, I think they would have to go through their channels to file a claim.

    good luck!

Oh, and Amazon rocks! I mean seriously...I always feel 100% confident that they will come through even if an error occurs by the fault of some other party.

Thanks for the heads-up, gentlemen. We'll see if it turns up tomorrow, which now I'm sure it will. Probably just a glitch in the matrix somewhere.

Norm, fyi: HST (Honolulu Standard Time) is 2/3 hours behind PST (Pacific Standard Time) depending on daylight savings. We don't have to deal with that here, fortunately. So, right now it's Thursday, 11:05PM HST. On the west coast it's Friday, May 7- 1:05AM PST.

A couple times, I've had delivery people evidently thinking they were doing me a favor by hiding my packages from everyone's view - including mine.

I'm at the tail end of my FedEx guy's delivery route, he drops my packages on his way home usually~

He & I have an agreement; he inconspicuously hides any boxes in a small area to the side of my door on the porch. Not visible from the road, so don't have to worry about someone taking off with it. I also leave a note on the door whenever I know I have a package coming that requires a signature to let them know they can leave it & use my signature on the note.

Get to know your mail , UPS, FedEx, etc. delivery folks, & include a little something for them around holidays & they'll take care of you (this only works where you have a consistent delivery person).

I had that happen to a pair of LSi 7's. I'd wait until the next day to see if it shows up. If not, start a claim with Fed Ex. They will investigate. After several weeks I ended up getting a refund from UPS. I would have much rather had the LSi's. They were used and I ended up paying $150 shipped. Great deal and they get lost!!!!

Sure enough, Jesse. They just delivered my stuff. Amazon's already shipped the second order, but I'll just decline acceptance and have 'em send it back.

I've had nothing but great experiences with Amazon making good on "missing" shipments. The delivery companies can be weasels at times, but If you simply send Amazon an email the should make good. no biggie.

This happened to us once, when in Washington D.C. The wifey had ordered, an overnight, very time sensitive delivery of something worth $3,000 (for a horse). We were living in an appartment in Georgetown at the time, but had a clear view of the entrance from our top floor unit.

    1) She saw the UPS guy drive up and stop.
    2) She waited for the bell to ring.
    3) She saw him drive away without ever getting out.

She phoned UPS to enquire just in case, and they said that the there was nobody home to accept the delivery! After insisting about the time sensitive nature of the delivery, she eventually ended up having to drive to their depot to pick up the delivery herself.
    Alea jacta est!

Be there when they deliver it, and just yank the box out of his hands, run out in the street and do your best punt while screaming expletives.
