    Default Onkyo TX-8555 question

Will this receiver drive a pair of M70s well enough for someone who doesn't listen to music at wall shaking volume? Would it be a stretch to drive two pairs of M70s?

One pair of 70s...no problem.....Onkyo is rated at 100 watts/channel and can also drive 4ohm loads..'supposedly'. Two pairs at the same time...? I really couldn't say......tentatively, I'd think, yes...but not as well as they should be powered! Why do you want to drive two pairs at once?

One pair will be no problem. The TX-8555 is a great receiver for the price. It should make the m70's sing nicely.

Two pairs would be fine if you don't get stupid with the volume.

I won't go high with the volume. I wondered about two pairs because I wanted to run them in adjoining rooms. Thanks.

Amazon has it for $244.99 shipped.

You can get a refurb from accessories4less.com for 199. Don't know about the shipping. And of course you'd only have half the warranty?

For 2 channel application, I would recommend to step up to the A9555.

Isn't that just an amp? I am looking for a receiver.

The Onkyo A-9555 is an integrated amplifier and a nice choice for the price.
It just doesn't have a tuner, so just add a Sony XDRF1HD HD Radio Tuner.
