    Default Challanging room for subwoofer

Our new home has an open floor plan wherein the family room, breakfast nook, and kitchen are combined in an area of approximately 820 sq. ft. The ceilings are 10' with 11' tray sections over the family room and breakfast areas. There are also three 4' wide arched, open doorways 8' in height.

We love the space, but I (obviously) need something more than my trusty old Polk PSW202 to pressurize a space of 8,000 + cubic feet. I had an SVS PCi 20-39, but I sold it with the Klipsch setup I had in the old house because we didn't want such a high profile piece in the new room.

So, I'm on the hunt for a powered subwoofer, box form factor, with a footprint of < 2.5 sq. ft. that's up to the task. I like what I've read about the HSU Research ULS-15 Dual Drive, but have no experience with their gear. That sub would be the upper end of the budget.

I've attached a snippet from our floor plan. I'd appreciate any input from those with experience dealing with such a demanding space. Thanks!

Have you considered a medium/large sub and one or two in-wall subs? (or just multiple in-wall units)

Honestly, build one. Get a high power car sub. Something that uses XBL2 tech and can handle crazy power Build a tuned, ported enclosure for it and throw a thousand watts at it. It'll pressurize that space quite well.

If you want, PM me with your requirements and I'll figure out dimensions with your exact requirements and find you a decent sub that will work.
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you!

The home has concrete block walls, interior and exterior, with sheetrock over DWC on the interior. Too much remodeling required to go in-wall, and no real space available anywhere to build out and conceal. Thanks for your thoughts though!

Thanks John! I had to go do some quick Googling on XBL^2. :o

Now that I know a (very) little about the subject, what requirements would you need? Cubic feet, desired SPL, ????

I haven't heard of anyone with an Epik who wasn't VERY impressed/pleased. Their prices are off the hook for what you get...
