    Talking RTi8 question

I just bought a Pioneer 1019 at bestbuy, open box for $330. I thought it was a great deal, I want to buy some polk rti8's but am wondering if my receiver can drive these. If anyone has any input it would be great, should I consider taking my receiver back and look for one with pre-outs?

    Thanks everyone!

That receiver you purchased for a good price is nice in a small room system, but for a main room I suggest getting a receiver with preamp outputs so you can run an external amp. You can run the RTi series from an AVR, but they sound so much better using an external amp. The RTi's will sound overly bright when run directly off the Pioneer receiver.

Wouldn't you have need for a master bedroom system? That Pioneer VSX-1019 with some Monitor 60 's and CS2 up front, and some Monitor 50's or Monitor 30's on a wall, for example, would make a nice surround system.

While at BestBuy look out for open box or clearance VSX-21TXH or VSX-23TXH receivers in the Magnolia Room.
If you like Pioneer, the Pioneer VSX-1120 is coming out soon. It has preamp outputs plus all the latest bells and whistles.

My room is pretty small already, right now i have some old Technics floor standing speakers with the domes pushed in on one, and it sounds pretty good. What could I get for around the same price as the pioneer? I saw a Yamaha that had pre-outs, the rx665?

doing alot of upgrading myself. Most, if not all of the people on this site will say to get a receiver with preouts so you can feed your speakers more power. i just purchased a used pioneer 1018 rather than the 1019 or 1020 because the 1018 has preouts. From what I have learned, when you have speakers that can take more watts, feeding them more only makes them work that much better. But I defer to the experts on this site, I am a newbie like others.

The VSX-1018 was the last of that series with preamp outputs and is a solid receiver.
The VSX-01TXH or the VSX-21TXH are the elite versions that are one step up.
