Default What player can pass sacd & dvda via hdmi

What players can pass sacd & dvda via hdmi ?

I know the oppo can but I'm looking for other alternatives . I have never heard either format but I think its about time I had a listen

The reason I want to try hdmi is because I dont want to fork out more for the cabling than the player

The Pio DV-48. and the DV-58 which I have and its a great player IMO. The 48 can be found for pretty cheap around 100+ and the 58 I picked up used (only 2 months old) for 250.00.

oppo bdp-83. And it sounds as good as analog. I was surprised.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have an OPPO 83se and it plays both formats through HDMI although I do use my 8 channel through the sunfire PRE and I prefer that.

I'd look into the Oppo bdp-80 which plays SACD's and DVD-A's for $289 and is almost identical to the Oppo 83 except for it's Anchor Bay Processor for regular dvd movies. I'd save the $200+ and get the Oppo 80 and use the other money to buy SACD's and DVD-A's.

Oppo's website: "When playing SACD, the BDP-80 can output DSD (Direct Stream Digital) over HDMI in its native format or convert it into high-resolution PCM."

I don't understand this statement. And Sherardp +1'd it!

Also, the OP had already acknowledged that he was aware of the Oppo's capability in his first post. I believe he was looking for "alternatives".

I meant on SACD DSD 5.1 output via HDMI is as good as RCA Analog 5.1

I might not read the Oppo part fully by the OP, so my bad. I retract my recommendation of the Oppo BDP-83 and instead, I will let Bernal to chime in with his opinion on the matter. :p

I did so recommending the 83. Over HDMI the audio quality is very good. I didn't see the Oppo acknowledgement either, so you got me there.

Here is an excellent player for a very good price. I used to own the DV-48AV and this is a little better. It does DSD over HDMI. It is a gorgeous machine too!!
