Default Receiver to go with Monitor 4.6

Hey, I'm new to the forums here, but I've been stalking around for a while trying to find an answer to my question.

I managed to pick up a set of Monitor 4.6 series 2 speakers off of Craigslist for 10 bucks about a week ago which seemed like a pretty good deal from what I had read. The speakers seem like they are in pretty good shape and I thought they would be nice for a small stereo set up in my bedroom. My problem is that I still need a receiver to power them.

I'm thinking that they really don't need anything special and I don't have too much money so I would like to spend less than $30 if it's possible. I don't know much about what options are available at this price point, if any, or how much money it would be worth spending to power these speakers, so any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the help.

You may be searching for a while... Anything will "work", but it's hard to find a Craigslister who'll even sell their old crappy 5.1 Dolby ProLogic receivers for $30.

I just scored an old HK stereo receiver for my office from ebay for 22.00 + shipping. Shipping cost brought it up to a bit under 50. Perhaps look into the uber-fleamarket?

Also, Welcome from a fellow noob!

I've had my Monitor 4.6 Series 2 speakers for twenty years or so, and I love them. Originally, I drove them with an Onkyo TX 811 (40 w/ ch.). I just recently replaced that with an Onkyo TX-8555 (100 w/ ch.), and now they sound better than ever! I also have a Polk PSW202 sub, which works very well with the 4.6s.
