    Default Observations w TSI500s and Yamaha 765

I Finally got my new receiver, Yamaha 765. Felt like contributing with a few observations I had w my 500s.

When I got my 500s I was greatly disappointed with the bass response. Having 4 drivers I figured they would pack more of a punch. They got better after break in, and my sub picked up the slack.

Hooked up the new avr just the other day, replacing my 12yr old KLH receiver (that thing is a trooper) that had "100w a channel," always figured it was more like 50rms...if that.

Running the 500s on the 765- holy crap. They certainly have bass. I was blown away. I knew the 95w rms would make a difference, but I had no Idea. Still have plans to amp them w a 135w rms sony power amp.

I've read a lot of guys run the sub crossover at about 80Hz for the Monitor 70s, which as I understand are virtually the same. But these puppies will handle down to ~50Hz without much of an issue. I'll certainly play with it when I get my sub hooked back up, but I'm thinking of running the XO at 60Hz and calling It good, at least for music.

Well my two cents. Feel free to comment, bash, or otherwise lol.

Power those M70's with an external amp, and you'll be surprised.
