brettw22, I got some pics here on our web page
http://www.ezconnection.org/ezcsystem.htm. The sig series & the standard looks the same except for the sig seh has a blue LED readout & the standard has a red led readout. We keep the led readout off most of the time. I usually only turn it of when doing a demo for a customer the blue led just looks cool & some what impressive.

ezc,
I take it that's your company you linked to (BTW, had to go to home page).

At first glance it seems like an odd product mix to go from pagers to MC power conditioners. What was the business rationale?

Tour2ma My business is consumer electronics. We started this business about 8 years ago doing pager sales, pager repairs, cell phone sales & repairs. Since than we have become Hawaiis Nokia repair center repairing all Nokia phones warranty & out of warranty. We also sell internet servcice & do some computer repairs too. We got into the AV portion about 3 to 4 years ago. After selling my race car & got interested in AV & home theater. Living in Hi. I found there are almost no retail stores here that carry or are willing to bring in better equipment. There are Hi end stores which cater to the upper end systems / customers (more than I can afford.) Whenever I wanted somthing I had to order it on line or call a order in & I usually paid full retail plus shipping. I found that there was others like me that wanted better than the HTIB systmes or the CC special's. I was already a Monster mobile dealer so about 2.5 years ago I started bringing in the upper grade Monster Cable (M & Z series)& Monster Power products to stock in the store to test the market & that portion of the business started to slowly grow. I found that there is a small market for better equipment & as the customers purchased from us they referred us to thier friends & so on so forth. The mid - upper range customer is much easier to work with they know what they want & know what the item will cost them. Our items are ususlly sold at a slight discount without added shipping too! We currently sell Monster cable & power, Velodyne, Onkyo & Studio Tech. I never sat down & said I want to do AV but due to my interest in HT the business grew. Our main business is still Nokia Phone Repairs & phone & pager sales. We also offer free installation to any customer who buys cables or av products from us, we are always more than happy to help a customer do a basic set up of thier system. I enjoy doing this so it makes it much easier!!!

ezc,
It is so cool that you were able to recognize a niche that was going unfilled, merge your business and personal interests, and diversify all in one move. Well done...

OK, this is weird... just spotted a folded, yellow scrap of paper on my desk and when I opened it.... a CC hotel receipt from my '99 visit to Honolulu. Did the Navy's "Tiger Cruise" from Pearl to San Diego when my daughter was assigned to the USS Comstock.

fireshoes The monster mobile stuff is good, they make great car chargers, & home chargers. Thier cell phone products have very good quality, but the cost is high. I sell the OEM Nokia LCH-9 or the LCH-12 car charger for $15.95, the monster mobile car charger dealer price is more than the Nokia retail price. Easy to figure out we didnt sell many Monster Mobile products! If they would just be more competitive like they are in the A/V market!
Tour2ma Cool you found that peice of paper! Does that mean someone is telling you to take a vacation in Hawaii? How was that Navy cruse to SD? was the ship comfortable? How was thier theater? Seemed to be a great way to spend a few days & relax.

ezc,
Thought crossed my mind that it was an omen as well. Only spent 3 days on Oahu, which means I saw the entire island... :) ... twice.

6-day crossing... we had to haul ass due to a severe eye injury on the ship following us.

The Comstock is a LSD (Landing Ship Docking). BIG ship 2nd only to carriers in displacement and kind of a floating hotel for up to 300 Marines plus crew. Since there were only a couple dozen Marines on the deployment, I had plenty of room and was more than comfortable. Seas were calm so no problems there, just got gently rocked to sleep every night.

Actually they keep us busy most of the trip learning the ship, fire fighting training and other “duties”. Got to fire a 50 cal and a 20mm chain cannon. Also saw a demo of the ship's CWIZ (may have the acronym wrong here) missile defense system. Fires an ungodly number of radar guided rounds per second, in the hundreds if memory serves. Anyway it goes "BRAAAAAP" for about 2 seconds and the sea explodes a couple seconds later a few hundred yards away... impressive as hell. It all culminated in us taking a verbal, Tiger SWaS (Surface Warship Specialist) exam to earn a certificate.

Also got a ride in an LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushioned), which is a jet powered hovercraft that can carry a tank to shore from the LSD's well deck. Unloaded, it can hit a little over 70 mph; we did about 60 on one flying pass.

Theater night was "The Mummy" on the turntable deck. the sound was awful... :D A great experience...

The crossing seemed to be a great trip! You got to do alot & see alot of what goes on in & around the ship. Cool seems like a once in a lifetime expericence. I always thaught the ships had a dedicated theater. I guess I saw somthing like that on the discovery chanel. 3 days & saw the island twice? I agree it is possible! Do you know what rock fever is? Yup going crazy on this rock! Got to get off once in a while! Hawaii is a great place to live but you cant just jump in your car & go to another state, If you get in your car you can pretty much drive around the whole island in a couple of hrs, or drive from one end to the other in less than an hour. Im trying to set up a vacation to take my wife & son to Disney Land later this summer but air fair from HI to LA is $700 - $1250 per person! darn I cant afford $3000 for just airfair! Looks like airfair in nov will be slightly less. Well I know Ill be at CES in Jan thats my yearly journy for business!

Yes, it was pretty special.

Apparently air-fare is the price you pay for living in paradise.

Have you seen the commercial yet with two guys driving down a freeway? One turns to the other and says, "Why does Hawaii have Interstates?" Second one says after a long pause, "I think they plan to build a bridge or something..."

I also live in Hi and I'm always trying to find dealers for the better audio brands. Unfortunately Hi only has mass market or esoteric audio shops. There was a shop back about 10 years ago that had what I'm talking about. Honolulu Audio and Video remember? Maybe you should expand your selection. Are you listed in the yellow pages? What other brands do you carry?

Lots of lightning daily down here! Makes me nervous though. Especially fleeing from a golf course. We are definitely getting hammered with lightning daily it seems this year. Very wet summer compared to the last three years in La.

I'll probably be the first to ever do this on this forum! Doppler Radar..

pjdami,

Sorry to hear about being rained out of golf! Thats why you called so quickly! Was great talking to you. Is the weather there rainy most of the year? Humidity must be bad too! We have humidity about 70% most of the time & during overcast & showers we get to about 80-90%. We havnt gotten a whole lot of rain the past few years, & we have been asked by the board of water to water lawns on certin days between 6pm & 10 pm & so on. We dont get lightning like you get here. Very seldom does a bolt hit the ground. When the weather gets bad do you need to unplug your gear to be safe? The 7000 will leave tomorow morning. Ill drop it off at UPS before comming in. Thnaks!

ezc,

Yes the humidity is terrible down here this time of the year. Especially living this close to the Gulf of Mexico we get a lot of thunderstorms. It is common to have 75% or greater humidity and 90 plus degrees at 5 pm when I usually go after work and play nine holes of golf. I walk mostly to get excercise and I am drenched at the end around 7:30.

I have been lucky with lightning. I have seen lightning strike telephone poles and trees just 100 feet away from me at times. Talk about wild.

No I have never unplugged equipment from the wall. Call me lucky I guess. I mean one can never always be home for these events. I do tend to turn things off though if it really gets bad.

Doro,

Close but no cigar. Actually the pointer is +/- 2 miles or so, so good luck with your swat team ;) Actually if they do make it here I will bribe them with a few brews and some good tunes :p
Let them go after all the crazies on Bourbon Street will ya?

ezc,

thanks again man. my first thing ever from Hawaii and it's a Monster:)

darn I have not seen a lighning strike in person only on tv. I hope to keep it that way! The heat & humidity must be a killer! I gurmble when it gets into the high 80 With humidity in the 80 too! That dosnt happen often but when it does it sucks! I cant imagen having to live a season with that weather, I think Id shower 4+ times a day!

ezc,

Just wanted to let you know I received my HTPS 7000 yesterday in perfect condition. Hooked it up and everything works. No sound limiting dynamic problems that I can hear. In fact I was paralyzed in my chair for about 3 hours last night listening to music on the new LSi 15s / Rotel gear with gshisme's Transparent Musicwave Bi-wire speaker cables that I got two days ago as well.

Thanks again for everything and thanks also to Mantis for the recommendation. Both of you guys have great taste in equipment that I also enjoy as well.

Paul
