Been unplugged quite a while just needed to vent out

Hello Polks
My son just had a surgery last Thursday (a week ago) ...triple surgery. :(
Ears (placed tube due to fluid, Nose due to enlarged adenoid, and throat due to tonsillitis...) He's in pain regularly. Thank God for the codeine. As to some of you know, my son had episodes of seizures in the past and hopefully these factors would lessens the unforeseen attacks. :(

This is really making me cry...Just got a heavy cross BRO
Sometimes I wonder Why such a heavy cross not just on me but also on my son. I would rather carry his cross than see him like this. he's been through a lot. He's only 5. Sorry guys, just needed to vent out.

I feel ya - got two boys of my own (12 and 14) - they are great kids!

I guess I'm blessed in that we've only had to deal with a couple of broken bones, bad colds, the usual.

Anytime your child is in pain - as a parent you would gladly take it on for their relief and spare them another moment of pain.

Vent all you want....we gotcha back.

My two year old niece was having seizures so they put tubes in her ears. No more seizures. I hope your son has the same results.

No apology for "venting" necessary, it is needed therapy. My son went through a surgery three weeks ago that turned out cancerous, why children I just don't understand. Good luck to you and your family.

My prayers and my families prayers go up for you and your little boy.

I know how painful those surgeries can be. As a child had three surgeries on my ear, and also three on my nose. Very painful I really feel for you boy. As a matter of fact the pain was so severe that they were giving me shots of demerol which in themselves when administered were very painful.

It's good that he's doing well with codiene as that is far less addictive than the opiates and won't make him as dopey.

When I was around 10 I somehow developed an auto-immune disease that nearly killed me. I was too young to understand what was happening I just remember being endless pain on certain nights. I couldn't move or do anything otherwise my body would feel like fire.

15 years later and I'm doing awesome. Great job, hiking to Mt. Whitney, girls, speakers, all the good stuff. Hang in there. We can all overcome great obstacles. Your son will grow up tough.

Mate thats not good to hear.......

Its funny hey, no matter how many ppl tell you how many times BEFORE you have kids just HOW much they change your life, it's not until you become a parent that you even begin to realise just HOW much of an effect they have on you.

For instance, reading this thread prior to having my own kids I may not have thought much about it (which maybe says something about me doh) but now, I read this and it makes feel deeply for you. We had a really big scare with our 2nd being diagnosed with Cystic fibrosis (pre birth) and it was THE hardest 6 months of my life and I grew up in family that faced some pretty hard times itself.

Same with reading papers, not so long ago I saw a photo of a war torn area (somewhere in africa) and the front page pic was full of kids, with empty eyes, no hope and as I was eating my lunch, I am not ashamed to admit that I shed a tear. At the same time realising how lucky we all have it and that things like cars, stereos etc pale into insignificance when you have problems with your kids or see the seemingly insurmountable problems of the world in general esp when it affects innocent children.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your wife and your son. It's no consolidation at all however I am a strong believer that the things we are dealt with at various stages of our lives are to prepare us for the future and even if you don't believe that as such, if nothing gives us character and strength. I realise it's easy for me to say that not having to go through what you are but I always try and look on the brighter side of things....'every cloud' cliches and all that.

Go ahead. Cry or rant, do anything you need to do to release the stress your under. To deny these emotions is to deny your humanity. There is nothing more painful for a parent to see our child(ren) in any pain.

My daughter had the same operations at age seven. She did not have seizures, but was always sick and it made her a very unhappy little girl. She had her's at the Kings Daughters Childrens Hospital in Norfolk, VA. She was in for three days and my wife and I rotated shifts at the hospital and home since my daughter has a twin brother.

Today she is beautiful 28 year old woman. I wish you and yours the peace you need at this time.

doggie750, I feel for you big time :( Like mentioned above by Erik Tracy, I only went trough the usual stuff and trials. I think broken bones was the most and still I was in greather pain having my boys going through this than if I went trhough it my self. Both of my sons are in their mid 20s now and I often still worry about them not counting that I also keep a close eye on the 2 grandsons !

My prayers are with your son and you and your family big time. God's will is sometime hard to understand but there's always a purpose. Keep the faith, may God provide you the strenght to go trhough the hardship. Your son needs your strenght....

Sorry to hear about your son. I have 2 kids under the age of 4 and can imagine how painful that must be for you and your family. If that's not a reason to vent, I don't know what is. Comfort and recovery wishes sent your way...
