    Thumbs up Quick Rotel Review

Have been listening to my new set-up for about a week and it sounds great. My first upgrade/downgrade was to trade my Yammer 1300 to my brother for his 1200, since I was going to go with external amps for all of the channels I had no qualms about trade with my bro. First I would like to say that the deal for Mantis' Rotel RB960BX amp went flawless, also I picked up a Rotel RB956AX 6 channel amp from a local Hi-Fi shop that sells Rotel and other very good gear.

First I would like to say that I am certainly no expert but after a week of getting thing to my liking and calibrated I started out with Kirk Whalum's Color CD and was very impressed with the overall tonal output of the amps, the 600i opened up very well but not overly bright, not laided back by any meaning I liked the sound. Then I moved on to the best of the Gipsy Kings, the Rotel really showed it's true colors as it opened just about every inch of the 600i. I must say the speakers and amps sounded well mated the highs were clear and the mid were tight. So far so good. So final music test was Marc Anthony CD a very good latin mix, everything was right on pushed the volume the Rotels responded with easy.

Moving on to HT, and I think this is where the 600 really shined as the play back of Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator, and U-571 were excellent. I also played Armagedon and my mother-inlaw asked my wife if it was thundering outside, I guess it was a bit loud.

Again not the best review as i have a lot to learn, and this forum has alot of knowledgable people, but you are never to old to learn. As I have gone to way of Rotel will not go back to a reciever, pre-pro will be next purchase, and finally new speakers all around, New RTi series looks good, will ultimately like the LSi series, but that;s in the future.

Thanks Mantis for a great deal, and I hope everyone here can deal in a staight foward, honest way.
