Default Bi-amp or bridged mono's for dual adcom gfa555

    Guys,

I just secured my 2nd gfa555 from kevhead today. I was wondering would it be best to biamp my kefs using them or to use them as monoblocks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Chances are they will sound better balanced tonally using them as monoblocks, bass eats up way more power than the mid/treble does so one amp is working harder than the other.
You aren't done with wire and ready for upgrades and other tweaks until you are totally done with wire.

Try it both ways and see which you prefer.I owned a couple of 555's and tried it for me the "bridged" mode was just nasty, but YMMV--good luck.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I am guessing that is a bad nasty and not a good nasty?

I had the exact same result when I had twin 555's as well. For me bi-amped worked better then running them in bridged mode. Also it is a good idea to have them serviced and have the bias checked. One easy way to tell is if your amps have been running for several hours at decent volume try feeling the cooling fins on the rear….they should be relatively the same temperature….if one side is much hotter then the other then chances are you have a bias issue that needs some attention. You can also check with a multi-meter as well….
