Default Vinyl - Must have reissues and remasters

Starting a thread (hopefully to be stickied) to discuss must have vinyl reissues and remasters. I'll start with two:

Nirvana Nevermind Remastered from original tapes
The Doors LA Woman rerelease on 180 gm vinyl.

Nevermind is really well mixed, not a ton of compression. Has a nice, raw sound to it.

L.A. Woman is another really good mix, and 3 of the tracks are the original mixes. Doesn't say if all the tracks are original, or if some were remixed. The sound stage is huge on my system.

Great idea. Anybody know if the Bill Evans Trio's "Everybody Digs Bill Evans" or "Portrait in Jazz", both in 180 gram AcousTech 45RPM vinyl reissue, are worth $30 apiece?

I only ever owned Fire and Water on 8-track :-)
It'd be nice to have a good copy.

Now, back to the original thread topic (to which I can add nothing; I have virtually no experience with modern LP reissues - too many good old original versions out there for me to have invested, yet, in the remakes).
    all the best,

Anyone picked up the Beatles remasters on vinyl yet? I keep seeing the CD version, but not the vinyl.

Yes, I've bought several; two off the top of my head are Abby Road & Yellow Submarine. Both sound great!

I just remembered, the Beatles White Album double LP. Not the best but better than the original.

Pixies - Surfer Rosa GAIN 2™ Ultra Analog 180g LP (Remastered Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab)
Sound is awesome, no background noise on LP. Vocals and guitars sound like you are in a room with them.
Opinion:Because of the music it is easy to get lost in this album, and this remaster makes it even easier. Grab a drink or coffee/tea, lower the lights, get comfy and crank this one up!

Standard MFSL stuff:180g high definition vinyl, Limited Editon numbered, half speed mastered, static free/dust free inner sleeve.

I will also be doing a comparison with the SACD, as well as both the SACD and MFSL LP version of Doolittle! I will do the comparisons in another thread as this is one is for LP's

Also, picked up Van Morrison Moondance on 200 gm vinyl. Amazing sounding record.. Seems to be more of a straight reissue on high quality vinyl, but very much worth having.

You know I was on the waiting list for that for over two years now it comes out when I'm broke, go figure.

Have you compared it to the original LP release? I'm sure it will have a blacker backround but I'm wondering if they got every they could from the master on to that 200 gm vinyl and it produces things not heard on the original.

I would have to say that they got all they could. I'm trying to remember which track, but on one, I remember hearing a couple horns, an acoustic guitar and the bass all mixed to about the same level, but still being able to hear the transients from the guitar and the vibrations of the strings/box, the horns and the bass all quite distinctly in the right channel.

I haven't gotten to compare it to the original, since I don't have a copy of the original any more.

Picked up a few more reissues the other day, but haven't gotten around to doing their initial cleaning. Yes, I clean new records too. Probably be a week or two since I had surgery on my leg yesterday.

Also got an original, sealed release of This Is Henry Mancini, but haven't gotten around to cleaning that one yet either.

I have this set but have not listened to it yet! The packaging and the materials used are outstanding. Here is a quote from the release, "In the case of the Harvest LP, they located the last manufacturer in the US that can still make hand-glued gatefold covers to carefully reproduce the original cover."

I have been picking up most of Neil Youngs, 200gram Classic Records reissues and they are fantastic.

I also picked up Neil Young Tonight's the Night for $8.00. The sound on the reissue if fantastic.

IMHO this is a must to get out the crap and mold release compounds the factory uses. Use a good cleaner made for removing mold release compounds like MFSL Super Deep Record Cleaner followed by a rinse of any good record cleaning solution followed by a distilled water rinse will ensure your grooves and record are pristine!

Actually I start out with Vinyl-Zyme Gold to eat up any mold or mildew that may have accumulated on the record then I go with the above.
