Default Are SDA-2A upgrade worth it

I was thinking about modifying the the crossovers on my 2A's. I also was thinking about changing out the tweets to the 194. Can someone give me a approx. cost for the XO mod. Are the sonic differences worth the upgrade?
What will be different? Thanks for your help

I have not done a XO mod so I can't comment but I did change to RDO 194's with my 2A'S. It was a big improvement.

Same here. I have not done anything to the crossovers, but did change to the 194's. They are broken in now, and the difference is huge. I have also done the dynamat, mortite, and Retainer rings by Larry. I'm very happy with the SDA 2A's. They are worth it!

replacing the caps and resistors on older model speakers is certainly a good idea,,just use a quality product(I prefer sonicaps)sale ends soon,,I think that you will find the results very pleasing.Good luck.

Makes sense to replace older caps and resistors due to the "wear" Thanks George! I also wondered if anyone had any experience with the sonic differences

Thanks Doug, I think the 194-dynamat-mortite upgrades are on the next list of things to do

I'll more than likely get the crossovers updated on the 2A's sometime. Right now I'm in the process of having my new 2B's crossovers done by Ben. Doing all the mods and tweaks to them with 198 tweeters.

I upgraded my SDA2's and there was an amazing difference.

I have the originals with three drivers. The sound opened up a ton with new caps and the 194's. Sonicaps are awesome. They took about 150-200 hrs to break-in but after that they were amazing. I like them more than the 2b's I have heard. A bit more bottom end which is what I prefer.

I would suggest disconnecting the dimensional tweeter though. It adds some strange artifacts to the sound and is in my opinion better off without them. Probably why they stopped using them in the b series.

I did my 2As when I had them and it was definitely worth the time and money to do the tweets and crossovers. Cost depends on what quality components you put in there.
