I just bought Chickenfoot III. Not good. I loved the first album but this is all filler.
James Taylor Vol 2 is a great sounding disc. A few songs I forgot about and some I didn't know he did. Really solidly mixed and makes my system sound great.

Just picked up Aqualung 40th anniversary and Ten Years After "A Space in Time" Audio Fidelity gold one....both are the best sounding I've heard.

First is Raconteurs' Consolers of the Lonely. Second one is Kaleigh Baker's The Weight Of It All - soulful blues vocalist from Orlando. Saw her at Orlando Calling right before Raconteurs. There's a good video of the title song live I would encourage you to check out.
Some good stuff above. Had tix to see Stanley Clarke and Hiromi in Raleigh, but couldn't make it. Really hated this as I've never seen him and was wondering about this trio's music.

Went to WI on a used music shopping trip with some good friends. Here are some highlights.
Got some Split Enz albums, Time and Tide and a couple of True Colors. The True Colors jacket was actually done in a few different color combinations. Some TC LP's are laser etched for a pretty kewl effect. A nice Mannheim Steamroller / Fresh Aire VI was procured from out of the dollar bin.
Picked up a naughty bits Scorpions album for my Hipgnosis album cover collection. Got a minty Boz Scaggs second album recorded at Muscle Shoals in 'Bama. The other musicians on the album include Duane Allman, Eddie Hinton, Jimmy Johnson, Barry Beckett, David Hood, Roger Hawkins and Al Lester. I'll bet that was a fun time to be around.
Also picked up a minty debut 10,000 Maniacs / The Wishing Chair to replace a tired one.
Some nice Graham Parker albums were had; Squeezing Out Sparks & Another Grey Area. Graham Parker and the Rumour / Stick To Me.

Had a chance to hear most of the Black Keys - EL Camino this weekend while used cd shopping. Went to 4 used cd stores, spent about $150 on approximately 35-40 cd's
I ordered it from Amazon today, it was excellent.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass

I don't have the DVD-A version, but when compared to my CD purchased from the now-defunct yourmusic.com music club, the SACD is noticeably better....everything is smoother and just makes for a better listening experience. I think those on stevehoffman.tv are close to calling this SACD the definitive digital version of "Pet Sounds".
The SACD is down to about $25 on Amazon.com.
I have been wanting the Beatles mono box set for quite some time. I have had it in my Amazon shopping cart for a couple of months hoping it would drop in price for the holidays. It had been at $125, and it finally dropped to $89 on Saturday, so I quickly pulled the trigger. I see it is now back up to $129. I can't wait to hear the set...

The mixes on these are very interesting to hear Rick. Some are drastically different to the Stereo versions of the albums. I still need to do a comparison of these earlier mono CD's with the "Capito Versions" MON CD's as well. I hope you enjouy them.

Joan Osborne - Pretty Little Stranger
As much as I like Joan Osborne (A LOT), I'm not sure why I never picked up this album. My mistake!
She left NY to travel south to Nashville to make this album. Whatever your impression of country music is...I will tell you these "country" recording engineers and producers know how to make a record sound good. I've heard a lot of country, bluegrass and contemporary Christian music come out of Nashville that is recorded as well as ANYTHING coming from the major recording studios. They are very good at their craft. This album was produced by Steve Buckingham (who has worked for Dolly Parton for years), with harmony support from Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, and Rodney Crowell and falls into that category of an excellent recording. Joan is very good from moving from genre to genre and her efforts on this country "Americana" themed album is the equal of her rock, blues or R&B albums that I've enjoyed.
Since I have all of Joan's other albums, the mistake of not getting this one has been corrected...and I'm damn glad I picked it up.
