No, I wanted to, but haven't found any to demo. I have noted many for sale lately, something about a bridge that PS promised to build, but seem to have changed their minds.

Heard this setup on a system that wasn't my own and on speakers that I didn't particularly care for - so I guess that means I can't really have much of an opinion on it! haha.

Also, if u are looking to slum back into digital, the AMD CD 777 is a must-audition!

I haven't heard the PW combo, but supposedly the W4S DAC-2 and PW sound very similar.

Which model Ayon? I've recently heard a CD-2, CD-5, and W4S DAC-1 and DAC-2 in the same rig. All sounded good, but each had a different presentation.

I heard the ayon on my sound labs at the dealer it was decent I guess it was a bit forward than some I have heard. Since it was an sacd player we moved quicly to his vinyl rig so I did not listen more than 30 minutes or so.

The CD-2 is a little forward, the CD-5 is warm with more low end.

I decided to pull the trigger on the Ayre CX-7eMP. I'm not all that interested in SACD at this point and I read where the 7 had the edge over the 5 when it comes to CD's which is the majority of what I would play. Wish me luck!

I considered that but decided I didn't care. So long as it does regular CD's well I'll be happy for now. ;)

JUST got finished playing with one and thought I'd follow up on this thread. It's important to note that I only spent a week with this unit, so apply all the normal caveats before reading on.

In a nutshell, I liked it. It's built real well, packs a lot of features, and sounds less digital than many other competitive front-ends that I've heard around the same price (namely Ayre, McIntosh, and Resolution Audio). That said, I still prefer the less expensive AMR CD777. As smooth and resolute as the PS Audio stack is, it simply doesn't match the organic and more natural presentation of the AMR, or at least not to these ears. Then again, I admit that I tend to favor a more analogue-like presentation.

Good stuff though. Worth an audition.

Oops. Forgot to mention the gear that I used.

On the electronics side, I used the:

Vista Audio i34 integrated amp - 35 kick ass WPC of Serbian EL34 love
Karan Acoustic KA I-180 integrated amp - 200 WPC of solid state Serbian love

On the speaker side, I used the:

Harbeth P3ESR monitors - Classic Brit sound. Colored, but super easy to listen to.
WLM Stella floor standing speakers - Great Austrian two-way towers. Very lively.
Wilson Audio Watt Puppy 5.1's (modified) - Kick ass in every way. :)

I got the Ayre yesterday and played it all day. Its the best sounding CD I've heard to date but its not my turntable, thats all I can say...

I guess a tick and a pop now and then is worth it.
