center channel match for monitor 5jr

Hi all,

New to the forum but have been a Polk fan for many years(still have my original monitor 7 and 5jr from early 80's).

I'm still using my 7's and cs245 on my HT setup.

I want to use the monitor 5jrs for left and right front for a ht setup for my dad.
He's wants a simple HT setup so I figured that I would use the same speakers that he used for our "stereo VCR" setup back in the 80's.

My question is "what Polk center channel speakers match well with the early monitor series.
I know I was told to buy the CS245 or 400 when I set mine up about 15 years ago.

Can I use the 400i or 245i or is their a current center channel that I can use like the cs10 that will match the 5jr?

I don't own the 400I but alot of the older other centers and think they sound similar enough to me not to worry about a thing if you get one of them.

Ls350cs would match well if you have the later Monitors with the SL2000 tweets not peerless.

I would agree one of the smaller centers, CS300, Cs350...I have not heard a CS400, but MHO is that they might overpower the Mon 5jr's, but then I don't like my center channel to sound louder than my L/R channels

A Mon 4's (or two :D) would probably sound good too. Might even match better than the newer Centers

I did some poking around inside my monitor 7 and I wrote down some numbers.
The 5jr's were purchased at the same time so I'm thinking that the dates should be close.

Monitor 7 tweeter says M7 stamped in ink and the number 75140783.
The driver has 97883 stamped on the date line.

I can remember my father purchasing these in the early 80's so i'm thinking that the 83 in the numbers may be the date.
Any ideas?
Also, what tweeter does this monitor 7 have?
Is it worth upgrading to a different tweeter?

I'll have to check the 5jr's when I get over to my Father's house.
