Knowledgable and kind persons have answered questions, given advice about components, and taught some basics of sound reproduction and electronics. Thank you.

My Dad introduced us to music with AR 2a speakers and turntable and a MacIntosh amp back in the 1960s. Though I've read a lot of reviews, I never had the background or the depth of my Dad, who was an engineer.

I've owned some decent gear, but never really understood why the gear was decent- other than by ear- which is a good place, but there is much missing.

I won't complete this education in my lifetime, anyway, but thought I should thank you.

Glad the club helped ya. Stick around, we do have some fun along the way while enjoying this hobby too. Oh, and btw, it's not about trying to know everything about audio,it's about just enjoying the music, be it a 200 buck system or a 20,000 dollar one.

I had a friend many years ago who had the largest record collection I'd ever seen outside of a library. We used to call him the, "World's Greatest Cultural Arbitur" because he'd spent so much of his life collecting and experiencing books, film, music etc. It was a joke with some truth. Anyway, he used to say he was a music lover, not an equipment collector. He got pretty excited when I got the Linn Axis turntable, though....

I thought about that since I've been back to this forum. I think you can love music and still appreciate better equipment- you can do both. I'd ask the World's greatest cultural arbitor but he's passed on.

Music can cheer me up when nothing else can. When the advanced civilization arrives and is pondering vaporizing mankind, it's our music that might convince them to spare us.
Unless it's Brittany Spears...
