Well I was not expecting to log on to ebay two days ago and find a older set of martin logans. I am so pumped to go get these. I am just so happy I had to share.

    Congrats. I miss my Logan's.

I gotta say though, I feel sorry for your receiver. It's going to get one hell of a work out, thats for sure...

Also, be sure to give those speakers lots of space. If you cant drag them out more than 3 ft or so from a rear wall - buy some acoustic traps to place directly behind them.

    Otherwise, enjoy!

She does not touch the system that is one good thing about her.

I have read that you need to keep the electrostatic panels clean with a vacuum which I will. Any other tips?

    Hello,
Congratulations on your ML speakers. I recommend keeping them covered when not being used. Most of the more recent versions have an "auto on/off" function for the power supply. But, I believe keeping them covered is the way to reduce dust accumulation and extend panel life.
    Cheers, Ken

As a proud martin logan owner (and polk!!) I would have to say dont let anyone smoke as that will ruin them

I hate having to vacume my panels all the time like once every 3 days grrrrrrr

The best tip I can give you is buy a dehumidifier as thats another way to ruin them like smoking. When you vacume the panels be sure to have them powerd down for at least 12 hours. The thin plastic mylar film may get stretched if its had a recent charge and this will cause a loss in resolution

My marty's are just like my wife ....disfunctional if not periodicaly serviced

These speakers are so directional that if your sitting to the left or right then your listening to like 70% of one speaker only. Be sure to keep them out from the walls and corners of course as you know. I find my ml source sound best 4 ft from the wall and 7 foot appart with nothing in between then

You will need gobs of power but for a movie down low they sound fine . I have had to invest in a tube amp arriving monday so I wana see what they can do instead of my onkyo 607

These speakers sound amazing and acoustic guitars and vocals sound frightning and very accurite

Youl be screaming out for a cinema centre before you know it.I love the speed of these babys for blue rays.I watched kick ass and there's a chase scene where some thugs are going to beet some dude up and I switched back and forth on this fast fast swooshing and the polk rti8 cones inersia couldnt gimi the fast moving air needed to get you on the edge of your seat

I think your gona love these speakers and build a whole setup round then

    Congrats and enjoy buddy

What do you think about air purifiers? Would they help keep the dust down?

A dust micron filter will get the dust down but not gone . Just like ken suggests ,try find a cover for them .I got covers included when I bought my speakers and just like you I have cats

I realy hate the covers because martin logan speakers look like beautiful sculptures . When the sunlight hits them the panels sparkle and shine so they instantaneously have wife appeal

Uber Congrats!! Great listening experiences are in your future. I have the older Sequel's. Mine and yours have an auto power off on the panels, ie; if the amp is turned off, the panels aren't active so they don't attract dust, I've had mine for years, once a month I unplug them wait 12 hours and vacuum front and back, no need to cover them. As said above, no smoking!

MartinLogan has a great customer service reputation. Great folks! Join the ML forum!

Congrats BAF! I remember you said awhile back you were interested in ML. Care of the panel is important. I vacumn mine about every three weeks after a twelve hour discharge period. A more indepth cleaning involves removing the panels and putting them in the shower and actually washing them.

Try and not let direct sunlight hit the panels as this will degrade them over time.

Good thing your getting an amp. While the AVR will make music, you're not going to get close to the potential of these speakers. Positioning is probably the hardest thing to accomplish. It takes a lot of trial and error. First tip I'll give you is raise the back of the cabinet to make the panel perfectly plumb.

Good luck and enjoy them. I know I do mine!!

Thank you and yes when I head a set in best buy I was in love and just melted at the sound they produced. Think audio absorbing frames are in my future.

$565.55 huh? Gotta drive to Annapolis to get therm? Gonna be another $60 in gas at least plus tolls. That's a month's rent for an apartment down in the Cumberland County area. Ya know. Just sayin' is all.

Exactly what I was thinking after reading the thread about the sister.

Anyway, congrats on the speakers. I'm sure you'll love them. :)

I started with spikes in all four corners. On the SPire, the spikes come with spacers to adjust the tilt and I added to the back to get the panel vertical. I would not remove the front spikes as I also think they sound better with four and the stability issue was important.

Adjustable spikes are available from ML but they are quite pricey. I'd try it first with wood shims under the rear spikes to hear if the vertical positioning is pleasing to you. If it is, measure the length of spike you need and order four from any of the audio suppliers. The vertical positioning makes a substantial difference from the tilt back.
