    Default Velodyne Sub

After several days with the new (old stock) Velodyne sub, I couldn't be more pleased. The remote is a nice feature but the rich, chocolatey sound it produces is truly a sonic dessert.

While being no where near the Company's biggest or best, this 10" 400 watt speaker sets up very well (at 35% of volume) with my RTi A7s.

Strong evidence of how well was apparent yesterday when listening to the new Robert Plant CD, Band Of Joy. This offering from Plant gives the bass-reproducing components of any system the chance for success or failure and the Velodyne really came thru.

I've never really owned a good sub before and can only imagine what any of the line-topping units from the best builders would do for a system. But right now this speaker is leaving a bit of chacolate smudge just beneath a smile ...

I've been wanting to upgrade to a Velodyne for a while. What size room do your run yours in? I can't decide between the 10 or 12 for my room. My theater room is about 15 by 30 long.

Don't even think about the 10' sub for a room that size. Go with the 12'...or better yet make it two!!! ;)

Our room is approx 15x21 with super high ceilings and one end open to an even larger area. Sort of an acoustic nightmare.

Add to that the tenet put in place many years ago by the wife ("I'm tired of our house looking like a dorm room!") that requires "nuanced" placement of speakers, etc, and I should probably be running a larger sub.

    And that could happen.

This new Velodyne was available at such an attractive price that I went for it knowing I'll likely keep looking for either something more dynamic or a second sub - perhaps another 10" like this one.

Still, this has more than replaced the two Polk PSW111s I was running and given me an "upgrade" as well as time to search and decide on what may be next.

Oh man, I've heard a lot of good things about Velodyne.

Right now I'm looking at the Velodyne Optimum series or the Sunfire True Subwoofer EQ series. Either way, I'm sure I'll be happy.

    Congrats on the great purchase!!!
