I'm not knowledgeable enough about power cables, so maybe you can explain.

What is the benefit of this $180 power cable versus a standard power cable and/or surge protector?

Very nice and definitely handy for setting up when either a plug is not close or picking up some power off of another circuit. Thanks for sharing pictures.

You want an extension of the romex or bx that's it your wall when you plug in gear that demands high amounts of current.

Sure I could have bought a 50 foot yellow 12 guage extension cable from Home Depot but it's so ordinary. I want something that is hand made to my specs.

It just has a coolness factor that the yellow extension cord can never have.

There's many polkies here who use the same exact cord that this extension cable uses as shown here:

    http://signalcable.com/magicpower.html

This one is just 20 feet long with a Quad Receptacle at the end.

The standard version is $109 for 6 feet. I added an additional 14 feet of cable for $70 more and Frank gave me free shipping because he loves us Polkies!!!

I just want to be prepared for the next time I have to hook up another system. This way I will have an extension cord worthy for almost any system!

The Hubbell Quad only comes with 20Amp Receptacles built in. Frank will change out the Plug to a 20 Amp version free of charge. My Plan is to buy another one that is Strictly for 20Amp circuits.

I just re-read the specs and I didn't realize that the cable is 10 guage. I don't think you can find an extension cord that is 10 Guage in a store.

That's why this thing is so heavy and can handle 30Amps of current.

    The Specs:

10 AWG 3 conductor twisted design
High purity stranded copper for maximum conductivity
Premium grade jacket provides excellent resistance to abrasion, water, oil
    UL listed and CSA certified
    Temperature range: -40ø C to +90ø C
    Voltage rating: 300-600 volts
    Max. Amps @ 120V: 30A
    10 AWG Point-to-Point Internal Wiring
    All Gold Plated Contacts

A perfect solution when you run out of power outlets! Utilizes the accomplished Magic Power Cord matched with Marinco Male Plug and High Quality Hubbell 20 Amp 4-Plex Box, the MagicStrip will not sacrifice current delivery, it is truly the best power extension on the market!

    Standard Terminations:

Marinco hospital grade AC plug (Male)

Hubbell 4-Plex High Quality 20A Outlet Box

    Optional Terminations and costs

20A Male Connector (requires a 20A wall receptacle) - No additional Charge

I found the Hubbell quad for around $45 shipped, then I need the 10G cable, shrink wrap, solder, Plug and that jacket material. Maybe I could do it for cheaper.

isn't 20 Amps the maximum current typically allowed by most building codes, Most circuit breakers in the house will be 15 Amp for lighting, 20 amp for plugs? just curious? :)

Most of the receptacles in your house will be 15amps. I installed a 20 amp breaker with 12 gauge lines to two 20 amp receptacles for use in my garage and my PCs in my computer room. If I didn't run it then all the receptacles in my house would have been 15 amps.

    Thats weak Sal...

My Den alone has 75 amps of current!!!

My spare bedroom has 35 amps of current!

The master bedroom closet will have 20 amps of current!

But then again Russ is freakin crazy!

That is an awesome cable though, you could kill small children with it.
