Default On My Way to Get Some 2.3tls

Any advice on what to look for? Got him down to 650.00. He says they are in excellent shape with cable but no boxes or manual. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure the drivers aren't frozen. A gentle push on the PR will move the other drivers.

Take a paper towel roll to the tweeters and check to make sure all of them work.

Transport them flat. I prefer on there back side. Drivers up.

Def. bring a friend to help carry them.

For that price, I'd double check that they are actually TL's.

Nothing like that. It's just that the price is very cheap for TL's.

Thanks everyone. Yes I did get these last night. They are in really good condition. Yes they are tls, I had him read the tag back to me before I went out to get them. When I first hooked them up I was kinda underwhelmed. I did the PR test and they go back within 1-2 seconds. I tightened all the screws and that made quite a difference, there is much more punchy bass and more clarity now but the woofers still retract at about the same rate. So do you guys think mortite will solve this? A few of the screws on both speakers just spin and don't bite could this be the source of a leak? Also no pics right now but will try to get some up later on tonight after the Pats beat the Chargers:D but here is the CL ad http://nh.craigslist.org/msg/2002828758.html. Buy the way Laserath you are responsible for my quest to get these speakers.Your speakers are awesome. Ever since I went to your website, I was obsessed with getting a pair. It only took me about a year and half but it was well worth the wait.

So do rings instead of mortite? And this will solve the problem? And also how much for a set of these? You can PM me if you wish. Thanks.

    See?

    Larry's got you covered.

Alot of members already had Mortite so some of them left it on, but I've read a few other threads stating the rings create a nice seal as well so Mortite is unnecessary.

I also had the same results with my set of 2.3tl's. I also came the the conclusion that these really start to shine when vinyl is being played through them. There is no bass roll-off used on vinyl like that is used on cd's. The only cd's I have found that sound really good through these are the Beatle ones that are made in Japan which provide a very spacious sound stage. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

I must say I feel like I hit the lottery with these speakers. I absolutely love these, I cannot peel myself away. I picked up The Very Best of Supertramp last night, hadn't listened to them in years, and the entire cd sounds unbelievable on these. Every instrument is in its right place, the vocals are dead nuts center and the bass sends chills. I plan on doing all the upgrades and cannot imagine these getting any better but I sure do look foward to the improvements!

TL stands for TriLaminate dome tweeter (part designation SL-3000). The non-TL's use a silver coil dome tweeter (SL-2000). Most, if not all, prefer the TL.

Not sure about the technical, but sonically the sl-3000's are smoother, less harsh, and don't have the spike at 12-13khz that the sl-2000's have.

Thanks. They are in very good condition. Like I said, I can't believe that these are going to get better, they are that good the way they are right now. Funny thing is when I talked to him last Thursday, he was asking 1,000.00, I offered him 650.00 and he said that he could sell them to me for 750.00. I said that I would think about it (I was going to buy them at this price unless they were used for tackling dummys). I was just about to call him and and tell him I would buy them for 750.00 and he calls me and says he would do the 650.00 that he had to move the next day and had to sell them. Anyways, I couldn't get up there fast enough.
