Just scored a monster deal on a Polk SR.

$129 from PolkDirect. They charged me tax, but that is okay. I don't get that damn crazy three year warrenty only a 6 month one....but I guess that is okay.
I am so stoked. I had been waiting to buy my subwoofer for quite a awhile I guess this is why.
Anyway. Question is this. 700 watts is a lot of watts. I would love to give this woofer a health amount of wattage. I do not want to make my electrical system unhealthy...so what are my options.
Unfortunately the subwoofer is a single 4 ohm, so I either need a powerful mono, or a good 2 channel rig.
Not looking to draw tons of amps, but I am looking to provide clean power to the sub as well.
What are your suggestions.

I think Dskip is only running like 300-400 watts to his. I cant remember off hand what type of amp he is using, but Im sure he will let you know. So, you could use that as a base line. That would also help your electrical as well.

Well, I have adopted a Rockford Punch 400-2. A friend of mine has given it to me to use until I can actually afford to buy a new one.
I guess the birth sheet is somewhere around 468 or something, he cannot remember 100% though.

I guess they have limited repair parts left or something like that so they are phasing it out. I may have misunderstood the polk rep but that was what she was saying when I was asking about it. I only have a 6 month warrenty...I guess that is fine. Would have loved the three year one. Wish there was a way you could buy one.

Oh well. So far I have two hours break in time, only around 58 more to go. I will admit though, I have cranked it a few times and loved every minute of it. I cannot wait until it is fully conditioned. I am so stoked.

Anyway, hoping to be able to buy a more powerful amp when money arrives. Oh, and build it a more suitible box, right now it is in a rather small box. about .10 cu foot smaller then recommended....

Yeah, they can be had very cheap and can get the job done, all the while having polk sq.
Oh well. I am content. I have the Polk SR and that is what makes me smile when I get in my car :D

Once I get it up and running some more, I can take a video of how it performs in conjunction with the rest of my stuff I suppose. Will have to make myself a new install thread.

Dropped the coin on a Rockford Punch 400-2, did not work the way I wanted, took my coin back, then dropped it again on a JBL BPX 500.1 which should power that nicely.

I should have it by the end of the week.

I really hate the break in period. I want to crank it so bad....but I know I should not.
After I get my new amp, I will give some pics of my install and what I think of the woofer.
